Not only is Abby Bravo a good student, she is a model student. Her teacher, Michael Angaiak, at Anne Wien Elementary School said the sixth-grader represents the best at the school.
“She is a wonderful representative of a Fairbanks student,” Angaiak said.
Bravo said she likes all academic subjects because even if it isn’t her favorite, she still learns a lot. She recently entered the science fair with a project titled, “Why Are Polar Bears Going Extinct?” During her research, Bravo said she learned about polar bears’ lifestyle and most polar bears will be gone by 2050 because of melting ice.
“Abby is the model of an active learner, willing to take on new topics in the classroom, whether they be in math, writing, science or social studies, and engaging them to maker her learning her own,” Angaiak said.
Bravo said she is successful in her studies because she pays attention in class and turns in her homework on time.
“My future plans is to continue being a good student,” Bravo said.
But for a career, Bravo is unsure of what she wants to do. She said she is leaning toward becoming a teacher.
In her spare time, Bravo enjoys drawing. Bravo said she doesn’t have just one favorite books, she loves The Warrior series by Erin Hunter, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and books by Shannon Hale.
She also likes to play soccer, another activity Angaiak said she excels at. “Abby is a strong soccer player, competitive on the playing field but always already to shake hands after the match is over,” Angaiak said.
