Sarah Palin
Presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., announced that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was his choice as vice presidential running mate on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008.
WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate John McCain tapped Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate today at a rally in swing-state Ohio.
Palin, 44, is a social and fiscal conservative who is widely popular with Alaskans, though she is largely unknown outside of the state. But like McCain, the first-time governor is a maverick who is not afraid to challenge her fellow Republicans or take on special interests.
The choice of the populist Republican governor signals a return for McCain to his long-held image as a political reformer.
In announcing his pick, McCain said he was looking for "a running mate who can best help me shake up Washington and make it start working again for the people that are counting on us."
"I found someone with an outstanding reputation for standing up to special interests and entrenched bureaucracies; someone who has fought against corruption and the failed policies of the past," McCain told supporters in Ohio.
Palin, who described herself as an "average hockey mom" is only the second woman ever tapped to be a vice presidential running mate and the first Republican. She told those attending the rally that it was an honor to be a part of the McCain campaign.
"To serve as vice president beside such a man would be the privilege of a lifetime, and it's fitting that this trust has been given to me 88 years almost to the day after the women of America first gained the right to vote," she said.
Palin was elected as the state's first woman governor in 2006, having previously served six years as the mayor of Wasilla. She was also the youngest governor ever elected at the age of 42.
As governor, Palin has had a rocky relationship with the state's biggest industry and entrenched interests within her own party. She raised taxes on the oil industry and pushed ethics reform through the Legislature following a corruption scandal involving an oil-field service company and state lawmakers.
Palin sought the ouster, unsuccessfully, of state Republican Party boss Randy Ruedrich -- who she clashed with early in her political career over ethical issues -- and began eviction proceedings against Exxon Mobil and its partners at the Point Thomson oil and gas field.
But she also challenged the federal government's listing of the polar bear as a threatened species and has gone out of her way to help Shell with its offshore exploration program in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas. And she's been an outspoken advocate for developing Alaska's energy resources.
McCain praised Palin as "someone with strong principles, a fighting spirit and deep compassion."
He also spoke about her willingness to reach out to Democrats and Republicans alike, and said she's shown "great tenacity and skill in tackling tough problems, especially our dangerous dependence on foreign oil."
Palin supports opening the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, something McCain opposes, though he has said he might reconsider his position on the issue.
Palin, a hunting and fishing enthusiast and a pro-life mother of five, could bolster support for McCain among both women and the far right conservative wing of the Republican party.
Palin specifically courted women voters in her speech, saying she was following in the footsteps of Democrats Sen. Hillary Clinton and former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro.
"The women of America aren't finished yet and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all," she said.
Palin also supports McCain's efforts to curb government spending and do away with the practice of congressional earmarks.
Still, Palin, who secretly flew to Ohio by private jet late Thursday night to join McCain at the rally, was an unconventional choice for vice president.
Her relative lack of executive experience and depth of knowledge on foreign policy and national security issues drew immediate fire from Democrats. The state Legislature is also investigating whether she abused her power in dismissing former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan allegedly because he wouldn't fire her former brother-in-law.
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Sen. Charles Schumer of New York called McCain's pick a "Hail Mary pass."
"Certainly the choice of Palin puts to rest any argument about inexperience on the Democratic team and while Palin is a fine person, her lack of experience makes the thought of her assuming the presidency troubling," Schumer told the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call.
Bill Burton, Sen. Barack Obama's spokesman, wasted little time in blasting Palin.
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," Burton said. "Gov. Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same."
But Palin received strong support from the state's congressional delegation, with whom she's not always had the best relations.
"It's a great day for the nation and Alaskans," said Sen. Ted Stevens in a prepared statement. "Gov. Palin has proven herself as a bright, energetic leader for our state and will bring the same energy to the vice presidency."
Stevens, who goes on trial next month in Washington for allegedly failing to disclose $250,000 in gifts from VECO chief executive Bill Allen, said Palin's knowledge of energy issues will be beneficial both to the state and the nation.
"It is now clear, there is only one presidential ticket, McCain-Palin, that can and will deliver a comprehensive energy plan -- one that will include development of Alaska's resources and reducing our dependence on foreign oil," Stevens said.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who's father Palin defeated in the 2006 governor's race, called McCain's choice a "bold step."
"Sarah brings a great deal of excitement to the campaign and she makes Alaskans proud," Murkowski said in a prepared statement. "Her candidacy will highlight Alaska's critical role as a state that can help meet our nation's energy needs through domestic oil and gas exploration and development."
Michael Anderson, a spokesman for the re-election campaign of Rep. Don Young, said Palin's placement on the national ticket gives Republicans in the state a reason to get out and vote on Nov. 4, which should provide a boost to other GOP candidates.
Drue Pearce, federal coordinator for the Alaska natural gas pipeline and former state Senate president, said Palin was a smart pick for McCain.
"She's very bright, she's fair, she's tough and she's a good choice for John McCain. She balances the ticket," Pearce said. "She complements his maverick style and she brings a human face to the ticket that I don't think we've seen before."
The fact that Palin is a young mother with a blue-collar background and a husband who works on the North Slope and has a son in the military makes her a unique choice as well, Pearce said.
"There's never been a ticket that had a candidate like Sarah Palin, where the candidate herself provides that full package," she said.
Palin's age provides McCain a response to his critics who say he's too old. McCain turns 72 today and would be the oldest person to assume the presidency if elected in November.
Palin was joined at the rally by her husband and four of her five children -- Bristol, 17, Willow, 14, Piper, 7, and Trig, 3 months. Palin's oldest, Track, 19, was preparing to deploy to Iraq in September with the U.S. Army.
"Todd and I are actually celebrating our 20th anniversary today, and I promised him a little surprise for the anniversary present, and hopefully he knows that I did deliver," she told the crowd.
Todd Palin works as a production operator on the North Slope for oil major BP and is a member of the United Works Union, but that has not stopped Palin from being an outspoken critic of the oil industry.
The North Slope's three biggest oil producers -- Exxon, BP and ConocoPhillips -- declined to comment on McCain's choice of Palin.
News that Palin had been tapped to be McCain's running mate came as a surprise to many of her staff in Anchorage and Washington. According to a press release put out by the governor's office late Thursday, she was scheduled to be at the state fair in Palmer on Friday for the unveiling of the new state quarter.
McAllister, Palin's spokesman, said he learned that Palin was in Ohio only after seeing it on the major television networks.
"I didn't expect this and I don't think the governor did either," said John Katz, Palin's representative in Washington. "Either that or she's the best poker player in the world."
Palin said she planned to spend the two months remaining before the election campaigning across the country in support of McCain
"The next 67 days I'm going to take our campaign to every part of our country and our message of reform to every voter of every background, in every political party, or no party at all," she said.
McAllister said Palin's campaign schedule would not conflict with her duties as governor.
"There's no legislative session scheduled this fall, the governor has commissioners to run departments, and she is in constant contact with key aides by phone and e-mail," he said.
Palin in the past had continually said she was happy being governor and had no intention of seeking higher office before their end of her term in 2010, but the chance to fill the second-highest position in the country proved irresistible.
"Some of life's greatest opportunities come unexpectedly, and that's certainly the case today," she said.

NOOOOO!!!!!!
Oh the anticipation waiting for the announcement.
Will it be McCain - Palin afterall?
Did she fly off to Ohio last night?
She could still fly back to attend the Palmer State Fair this evening.
OH NO, we can't use the best Gov. we've had in years...
Fox News is really hyping it.
The pace it picking up!
Who has Parnell lined up for Lt Governor?
If she goes and Parnel wins who is next in line for the gov..
This is making the national news. Maybe there is hope for the Republican party after all. How many of people who wanted to see a woman finally in a top position will turn to McCain. Hopefully this will will be the choice.
McCain - Palin 2008
Palin - ? 2012
I saw this on Yahoo news before it was even on here..Wild!
McCain just chose a criminal for his VP.......
And CNBC is now reporting about her firing of Monegan for refusing to fire Trooper Wooten.
SO MUCH FOR HER COMMITMENT TO ALASKA
Just on news, confirms that Sarah Palin is the VP pick...waiting now for McCain to announce.
Well, it's her. She's the VP nominee.
LOL @ you foolish democrats...
On a recent interview on the VP selection process, Gov Sarah Palin downplayed and stated:
"How can Alaska contribute more to the United States?"
Vice President Sarah Palin!, that would do it.
Maybe President Palin 2012.
Well, well, well......makes the whole thing a little easier to think about now. If it is McCain/Palin at least I'll know there will be some good sense in the Whitehouse! It would be a shame to see her go because she has been a breath of fresh air for Alaska, but I guess she'd be able to carry on in a much larger scheme now. She is a good person, a great leader and a fair person. The whole state trooper situation is just another proof that she wasn't content to carry on with the status quo - I have no problem with her actions there. Don't get so set in your job that you think you are indispensable. Work it like you need to keep it.....
So long Osama!! FANTASTIC!! McCain is a lock. And Pavel, please go back to your job asking people; "Do you want fries with that..."
Way to go Gov Palin.
Palin is a great Governor, don't get me wrong. But if it wasn't for Obama or Clinton being on the Democratic Presidential ticket, McCain would of picked a white old man. Palin is being used and we will suffer for it.
The national news is already hyping the trooper Wooten allegations and will do their best to undermine the Republican ticket. Such a shame but if she wants to be VP all skeletons will be revealed. She has my support 110%.
Great news for Alaska, I am from Tennessee and all the Republicans say HooRay for Palin.
Sara Palin has been a great Govenor for our state. She will do the same for the all the states. We should all be excited, Govenor Palin will be the first elected VP of the United States. This is history in the making.
One of my very liberal freinds has said he will be voting for Mr. McCain.
I am very honored indeed, Thanks John McCain.
And I thought she was doing so well. What a waste.
Damn, I burnt myself on my coffee when I read this... What ELSE can make this political year any more interesting?? With the way this country picks leaders based so much on appearance over qualifications, America will fall all over her dazzling good looks.. Never mind her main qualification before the governorship was the mayor of a small town in the sticks of AK.. This woman's political career has rocket boosters strapped to it!
After Mayor Whitaker-R support for Obama in Denver, McCain needed to act to ensure winning Alaska's three electorial votes. LOL
If the GOP loses, would Palin remain as governor?
Maybe if McCain wins, the President will actuactly come and visit Alaska?
And I can see her standing nose to nose with Putin after McCain has a heart attack a month after inauguration...with her great range of experience playing basketball and cheering soccer games.
Thank GOD we won't have a former Muslim that refuses to salute our American flag, in the White House...
Go Sarah!!!!!!!
akbearable - Those are rocket boosters or a pretty face that did it - it is proven ability to step up to the plate - and she has and will continue to. It is only a further blessing that her beauty shines from the inside out.
akfirenice - "the President will actuactly come and visit Alaska?" Uh, where were you 4 weeks ago when our President visited Fairbanks?
A stuffed shirt and a vacuous skirt. They are both idiots and she more so then he.
No offense to Sarah... but if she does accept the offer she has made a poor decision! Number one this is one of the most exciting times in Alaska's economic history. We need her here to bring home the energy changes we have needed for decades and get us through this energy crisis! Number two she just gave birth to a child and I think nationally people will question her 'motherly' nature and why she is putting career advancement over the first years of this child, especially one with special needs. Three... from Wasilla mayor to Alaska governor to United States Vice... home girl needs more time in office... even though she is doing a bang up job! Finally, she is not Hillary! It took years for Hillary to develop a relationship and trust with this nation… and she was and is loved. But, Sarah is not Hillary, not to say she does not have the potential to become one of our future presidents. But, if the Republicans think that we just wanted to see a woman in power they certainly don’t understand the psyche behind the vote of a woman! Sarah would have much more success staying put for the next 8 years letting the Democrats clean up Bush's mess and then run for president of the United States after she has built a solid reputation of reform and energy rehabilitation for the great state of Alaska. So if the Republican party is just trying to carry on the Hillary momentum to bust through the glass ceiling they are going to be fiercely defeated in November.
On a second note... this experience could give Sarah alot of public exposure... that could lead to her Presidental election in 2016!
However it works out this election has been as is going to be monumental!
JoBama 2008!
I don't call what Bush did visiting the state. Yea, he landed and visited with the troops, which I totally support. My point is that he should come and visit the cities and people of the state.
As the saying goes, there is always a strong woman beside any successful man....
Tempus_Fugit, look in a mirror and then get the *@%? out of our state!
Sarah and the First Dude are on their way!!
Great news. One of the unintended consequences is no more Obama ads!!!!
Lame. OBAMA/BIDEN '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG that's tooootally kool!!! GO SARAH!!!
McCain really had no choice. Choose the usual"stuffy" (and very rich, like him) politicians as his running mate, or go with someone that hasn't been jaded by "the establishment."
Last night, Barack Obama talked about life growing up on Welfare....the product of a single-parent upbringing.
A child of bi-racial decent, a Black child being raised by a White mother during the back end of the Civil Rights Movement.
He talked of the word "struggle" and his familiarity with it.
He didn't come from big money.
His father wasn't an oil man...in fact, this father wasn't even around.
He's not a "trust fund" baby.
He has a enormous following because people RELATE with him on a certain level.
John McCain had no choice....."I need to find somebody AT LEAST somewhat on that level.
The "fat cat" ultra-rich Mitt Romney's of the world just wouldn't do.
Not against Obama.
And not during these trying times in our nation.
Smart move Senator McCain.
You saw last night as this man, Barack Obama, sold out an entire football stadium accepting the Democratic nomination for President.
Sarah Palin HAD to be McCain's choice.
Her past is well-documented.
She doesn't come from "big money" either.
Shortly after her being elected as Governor, I ran into her at Fred Meyer.
She was doing some grocery/clothes shopping.
No security detail.....no plain clothes troopers....nothing.
Just a mother doing some routine shopping for her family.
Through my line of work, I ran into her on the banks of the frozen Chena River as she awaited the arrival of her husband during the Tesoro Iron Dog.
We talked as friends.....
I then told her how my daughter was going to kick herself for not coming with me (she was at home doing homework).
Governor Palin asked for my cell phone, I gave her my phone number...and she called my house....talked to my daughter ("girl talk" wow) for about 10-15 minutes.
I tell my family and friends in Ohio about those two instances, when they ask "who is this Sarah Palin?"
They express shock that she continues to consider herself "a citizen...one of us," despite also being the State's Chief Executive Officer.
I don't put my undying devotion into politicians and government figures.
As recent history has shown, they are prone to the same ills and screw-ups that affect us all.
And I smell "fake" 50 miles away.
This woman was genuine....and I appreciated her for that, AND the way she goes head to head with "the establishment."
They don't like her, and she gives a damn.
I'm not a Republican.....but I like Sarah Palin.
After all the corruption and scandal that's dogged this state lately, some positive news.
Alaska should be proud!
Just imagine what the elections would have been like had Obama chosen Hillary as his running mate. Obama/Clinton vs McCain/Palin now that would have made a very interesting election. Yup, the voters would have been voting Clinton vs Palin.....oh well....Obama has his work cut out for him.....especially with this being the 88th year of women's right to vote.

Awesome! There goes McCain's argument of lack of experience.
Flint Hills is gouging us on gas prices so much that even the Governor may have to move out of state.
Meeps - YOU are completely lame...
I am very happy for Palin and supportive of the McCain/Palin ticket. I wanted to cry though when I read the CNN headlines. Alaska is better because of her and I hate that we might have to give her up. My hope is that she thrives on the national level as she has on the state level. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in dedication, motivation, and integrity.
aksunshine - thats for sure..........GO SARAH !!!!!
Jim who?
My head is spinning.
When Hillary Clinton gave a shout out to my hometown, Seneca Falls, NY - the birthplace of women's rights in America - I almost passed out.
When my new hometown - Fairbanks - mayor spoke at the DNC Convention in support of Senator Obama, I almost passed out.
Now the governor of my home state - someone I was discussing as a great (but unlikely) choice for Senator McCain with my friends from NY - is Senator McCain's running mate.
A historic election all around now. It's going to be an exciting 2 months.
WAY TO GO SARAH!!!! She has the record of fiscal conservatism and an ability to step up and get the job done! She is the best choice for VP!! As Alaska’s Gov. she has worked with the military, and worked hard to change the Big oil mess. She is very qualified, far more qualified than Obama.
Tim Pawlenty's father was a truck driver, his mom died of cancer at 16... he supports importing safe drugs from foreign countries, his wife was a judge, he has been practicing law since 86 and has served two terms as govenor of Minnesota...he was the wiser choice! Forget the Hillary parallels... he is running agains Obama... not Hillary!!
It just aggravates me that he is attempting to take Palin away from a state that is going to lead the nation in this energy reform! We need a strong leader in power here.. and she is the one for Alaska not he vice presidency for the Republican party!
Say good bye to the presidency McCain... You can't use our hottie to get yourself elected!!
I'm amazed. Sarah Palin is really great, but VP? Unfortunately I can't stand McCain. I will still be writing in Ron Paul.
Wow, that's it..just Wow... Go Sarah!
This will probably be the best thing that has happened to Alaska in a long time. Somebody who really has a home in Alaska as opposed to an Atco trailer in Fort Yukon or a lodge in Girdwood and a lot of real estate investments in Arizona, Florida and Southern California. Who knows maybe people will start to think of Alaska as a state and not another national park. Maybe we really will see some major moves in the natural gas projects. She got the ball rolling and maybe she will be able to keep it rolling.
....whoa. So we have one of the best gov. we had in awhile, whats going to happen now...to Alaska? who's going to step up in her position?
Congrats, Governor. I am almost tempted to vote for McCain now. Best of luck.
For a woman who feels that universal pre-kindergarten is not necessary in Alaska because young children should be home with their mothers, Palin is a prime example of "do as I say, not as I do."
Never liked her, never voted for her, don't plan on changing that now.
Congratulations Governor Sarah Palin !
And Happy Anniversary To Todd and Sarah Palin !
Watching Sarah Palin's speech in Dayton, I have never been more proud to be an Alaskan.
I am so excited that there is a presidential ticket that I want to vote for now! But I'm really, really bummed that we might lose her as Governor.
I for another, feel let down.
There's still way too much work to do here and we've only just begun.
She definitely doesn't get my vote on this one.
Mayor Whitaker should have watched the Dems convention on tv. How will he be able to support the ALASKAN candidate now?? Let the flip-flop begin.
Now I can vote for McCain and be almost happy with the choice. I don't think he could have picked better.
Not to be the downer here, but something fishy is going on...
Well of course she has the support of Alaskans- didn't she push for the extra "rebate" attached to the pfd and get the money out earlier than normal... hmmm.... sounds fishy to me... and all along we thought she had our best interest at heart... now she can look like the angel that saved Alaska during the midst of hard times to everyone in Washington... nice move during an election year.. can't tell me that they just started talking about this last night(talking with McCain about being his VP). I am sure it has been in the works for a while. All part of a plan.
Thought McCain said we were a "welfare state"... seems he forgot that when he picked Sarah... nice move.. now he can satisfy those that wanted a female in some type of office and he can also now try to redeem himself with the people of Alaska for those types of comments. He probably sees redemption with the people of Alaska a much easier thing to accomplish now that he has their favorite money giving govenor as his VP choice.
They are helping each other's political careers.. end of story.
Wow, the selfish people on here today. Yes, if and when McCain wins, Sarah is gone. This isnt a bad thing. Alaska loses her, but America will gain her. I couldnt imagine a better rep to the world for the US other than her. We will have Parnell, or a special election to find our new Gov. As a Gov she has shown us that politics as usual wont cut it anymore, our next batch of candidates better figure that out, or they wont be quitting their day jobs.
We need to look at this as not a loss for us, but a gain for our entire country. Go Sarah.
MAYOR JIM can return to be our #1 DOG CATCHER !!
Darn!
Having given the vp nod to Palin, the republican ticket, literally and figuratively, just got that much more attractive.
A brilliant move on McCain's part. Maybe.
ArcticStars, I can't help but think that you just might have a point there, about something being rather fishy about all this.
I was just reading the 'Obama Concerns' thread and was wondering if all the anti-Obama concern trolls who claim he doesn't have enough experience to be president are going to rush in here to point out that Palin doesn't have enough experience to be 'a heartbeat away from the presidency'.
I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm betting the new talking points will be that whereas Obama's lack of experience is a BAD thing, Palin's lack of experience will be 'just what Washington needs to shake things up.'
I think it will still be good for Alaska with Sarah as VP. Lot's of you rooted for Stevens and Young just because you wanted to keep a strong front in DC, now we have a better front.
Our whole country needs someone to shake the power brokers and Sarah will do that. I'm sure she's not going to be a meek VP like those in the past.
Way to go Sarah!
What a shameful publicity stunt!!!!!
McCain knew he could not win against a real candidate like Barack Obama who is the only presidential candidate since Bobby Kennedy to actually bring positive change and hope to this country we live in.
McCain was panicking, "Ohhh noo, my chance to keep the same old same old Bush politics alive is slipping!!! I need a plan that makes the people of the US think I'm going to help them by bringing change. Ohh, Ohh, I need a woman. That’s the ticket!”
I'm glad Sarah Palin is happy and excited to leave Alaskans behind when she has actually been doing a good job. She could have changed Alaska, but we are a special breed of people. If McCain died in office, could she really lead the Nation? 675,000 people are a lot less than 300,000,000. Could Palin really put Putin in his place? I’ve heard she cries when things don’t go her way or people are being mean.
I really hope Americans open their eyes and take a good look at the facts. Obama is going to change this country for the better. He vows to help the Average Joe by lowering taxes for 95% of working families so we can survive in this struggling economy. McCain is still cool with helping the upper class folks out.
When everyone casts their vote in November, do not forget one major thing: The person making the decisions is McCain, not Palin.
Barack Obama 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, a family mother, Gov., And VP. Greatest choice ever made!
well I was thinking dang now who will I vote for...Obama the American traitor or McCain....I thought that maybe I would write someone in then it hit me if McCain wins Palin will be gone from Alaska!!!! Yeah McCain you swayed me I will vote for you for sure now!
"Wow, the selfish people on here today." Speak it hemingway! The majority of people commenting on here are usually VERY selfish and whiney.
I didn't want to follow the race too closely because I don't agree with Obama on many issues and I've basically made my choice. But now that McCain has picked Palin, this race will be very interesting... and historic to boot!
Oh_please-
I was waiting for someone to start talking politcs. So far, there've been a lot of vapid "We love you, Sarah!"-type comments.
Does anybody want to talk a bit more about the experience factor?
What do you think a Biden-Palin debate would look like?
I'd love to discuss how this is a good move for the red team or how it may backfire.
Does anybody want to talk about anything of substance, here?
I was very upset yet elated to hear that our Governor was selected to run as the Republican nominee for Vice President. We are losing a great leader for the state, and I hope that the transition to our next Governor doesn't change our state's direction or focus. At the same time I am happy with the choice of Senator McCain. I don't know how much influence she will have as President of the Senate, but we need more people with her vision, values, and ideals to serve this nation. Yes, it was a major political decision and I believe it was a direct attempt to pick up more women and middle class votes for the McCain ticket.
By comparison, Senator Obama has not walked the walk of his talk for Change and still has not laid out how he will facilitate those changes he claims to support. Our Governor has made great strides in the changes she supports and has not backed down from the challenges of cutting through red tape and beauracracy. We have to move forward on the national level to make our state agenda a reallity. I have positive feelings that with the Governor as Vice President, AGIA will become reality through her work with Canada. Also, tapping our energy and reducing the national dependence on foreign energy will stay front and center in the political arena.
I'm with you, Oh_please. I am anxiously waiting!
Brightest and Brilliant!
With a flag of stars touches me to see one have to leave being the brightest and brilliant of all the stars in the sky. Out of touch and most beautiful among all of the others. Alone shines the most to be seen. Sure we'll lose a Gov. Sacrifice this one star. To finally be noticed......God Bless Alaska......
J. Sydney McCain has with this single choice showed that he is far more tactically capable than B. Hussein Obama ever can dream of being.
The choice of such an honest and hard working woman who has a spine and is ethically strong, very much unlike the folks that B. Hussein Obama has surrounded himself with during his career, J. Sydney McCain did a masterful selection. Sarah Palin will be missed in this her home State.
Now I can vote for McCain and not just against the guy who befriends terrorists, has had Reverend Wright as his Pastor for the past 20 years and has Mr Tony Rezco as one of his business associates as well. "By their fruits you shall know them." B. Hussein Obama... a sad excuse for a Presidential candidate.
Well history in the making for Alaska . now lets see what happens.
Will be interesting to hear what Stevens and Young will be saying..
For those of you that think this was a cheap shot for McCain--Maybe. This was probably the smartest choice he could have made. It cracks me up when they talk about her recently being the mayor of a population of 9,000. What about being the Gov? She has more expierence than Obama. He was a Senator. Oh and the dirt that they will dig up on her is this Trooper issue--no big deal. I can't believe that Alaskans would even comment on that when they are trying to put 2 crooks into office as we speak.
Well it looks like Obama just got trumped !.
