Time to apply for National Youth Science camp
Applications to attend the 2008 National Youth Science Camp are available online at www.nysc.org/2008.
Two graduating high school students will be selected to represent Alaska at the all-expenses paid honors program from June 29 through July 26.
To apply, download the application packet from www.nysc.org/2008 and follow the enclosed instructions. For more information about the NYSC, visit www.nysc.org.

The NYSC is hosted and operated by the National Youth Science Foundation (www.nysf.com).
Applications are due no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Yukon spellers advance to Interior Spelling Bee
Fort Yukon students competed in a spelling bee last month. The first- and second-place winners are now eligible to compete in the Interior Spelling Bee, held in Fairbanks on March 1.
The winners from Fort Yukon were:
• First place: Trevor Mickelson, third-grader
• Second place: Aaron Solomon, fifth-grader
• Third place: Annisha Strom, second-grader
A total of nine other students participated in the bee:

• Mackenzie Mars
• Jerry Carroll
• Allison Peterson
• Minnie Peter
• Cheyenne Lawrence
• Karissa Carroll

North Pole choir students head to music festival
Two North Pole High School choir students will be representing the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District at the 2008 All-Northwest Music Festival in Vancouver, B.C. on February 28-31.
Dillon Neth (bass) and Carolyn Dellinger (soprano) were selected from hundreds of auditions to perform with the All-Northwest Men’s and Women’s Choirs.
Only 10 men and eight women were selected from the state of Alaska to sing in the festival. Five other states also will be represented in this prestigious music festival.
