Noise complaints

To the editor:
I cannot believe people are whining about the noise made by the jets training at Eielson Air Force Base. Didn’t we just all band together to save Eielson from the chopping block?
Are there also going to be complaints about the soldiers firing at the ranges on the south side of the Richardson Highway? These are the sounds of freedom! If you don’t like it, there are plenty of countries you can move to where they will tell you what you can listen to.
And those worried about property values will get a rude awakening if Eielson and its billions of dollars to the community ever go away.
For those who have fought for it, freedom has a special meaning that the protected will never know.

hmmm....
I have fought for it....but that doesn't mean I want jets going sonic over my house.
I do believe that Ft WW is the largest 'fort' in the Army inventory - with just shy of 1,000,000 acres. Isn't that enough room to train on - at least supersonically?
Because people want a little peace and quiet doesn't make them poor citizens...Alaska is full of empty space - more than enough room to go supersonic over places more remote than two rivers.
I like hearing the rifle fire and planes go over - but that doesn't mean everyone does - - - I love my country and my flag - but I choose not to shove it in someone's face over something as trivial as this
Ralph,
I am glad to see you are another one of those people who feel free to voice their opinion, but when others voice a different opinion, you tell them to leave (the country in this case). This country was founded on dissent, so you should show a little more tolerance for it.
well said, husky
I live out here in Two Rivers and those sonic booms are extremely loud. They rattle the windows on our house and terrify our livestock. When one of our windows cracks, who pays for the damage? It's not fair that we should have to, especially when you take into account the fact that Alaska has remote areas more suited to that kind of training.
My disgust has nothing to do with my support of the military and it's ridiculous to suggest that my concern over property damage means I'm anti-military. I'm quite certain that if Mr. Moore had to shell out money out of his own pocket to pay for damages done to his home, he would be singing a different tune. Live in our neck of the woods sir, and experience first hand the effects of those sonic booms. I don't care who is responsible for the cause, military or non-military. I'd just like to see a little more respect shown to the folks who live down below when those jets fly over.
A little tolerance for the noise of the jets at Eielson would be nice too...
McGehee, there is a huge difference between tolerance of noise, and paying for damages done as a result of that noise.
Come on and get over it. The cost of freedom isn't free. I personally love the sound of jets booming overhead. Too me it doesn't happen enough. Go Air Force and thank you for the outstanding job you do.
Ramster21,
Can people send you the bills to repair property damage as a result of military activities?
I'd like to see a little tolerance for peace and quiet.
AKhusky...please describe what instances of "property damage as a result of military activities" means. Please provide some specific instances of what damage was caused, when and how.
Its funny that when I was in the military we fought for the freedoms we all enjoy -
However, I guess to the writer, freedom of speech wasn't one of them
Move out of the country for an opinion! - hah!
--------------------
Ramster - I like the sound of my old motorcycle (it was a hog)...was loud and proud....
So - - since I like that sound does it make it right for me to sit at your curbside and rev the engine whenever I feel the need.....
common sense fella! Just cause you like it doesn't make it ok!
Don't bother answereing that Akhusky, I will. Stop by my house oldakcuss and I'll show you a cracked window. You want more proof? Come to my house when the jets are flying over. It's sure to be an eye opener.
I'll leave this dicussion to the rest of you to hash out. I need to leave for work. Someone has to pay the damages.......
It's not noise from the military here on my little spot in North Pole, I would like see cease and desist. It's my next door neighbor who, for some odd reason fires large fireworks at 2:00 AM in the morning. Now this isn't just an odd now and then but quite often. Is there a law against disturbing the peace in residential neighborhoods? I know for a fact it's got nothing to do with defense of this country. I think it is because he is just a jerk.
Dinkick...sorry about your cracked window...did you file an insurance claim?
I guess my point is...we never seem to hear about all of this "damage" until the noise topic comes up. If all of this "damage" is truly taking place and is caused by the military, there would be news stories, television coverage and the military would be actively involved in finding a solution. In case you haven't noticed, the military is VERY sensitive to being good neighbors in communities where there is a military presence. They are very concerned about the impact they have on neighboring communities. I think we've just got a bunch of whiners who like to blame others for their own problems.
There seems to be a new attitude developing that suggests that, when the general public disapproves of something the military does, it's anti-patriotism. How totally ridiculous!! What a narrow-minded way to view life.......
"They are very concerned about the impact they have on neighboring communities."
I question the truth of this statement. The noise complaint hotline is just a feel good measure so the Air Force can say it is addressing the issue. If it really was concerned, it wouldn't be creating sonic booms over settled areas. As is is, the Air Force says it investigated all complaints, and that only two violated regulations.
Regarding property damage, people posting comments in the Newsminer have reported cracked windows, cracked windshields, and items falling off shelves and breaking. People filing insurance claims risk having their premiums increased, and of couse the insurance companies could claim that property was not covered for damage by sonic booms. And good luck trying to get reimbursed by thge Air Force. If people don't get stopped at the door, they will get drowned in red tape.
I live somewhere now where there are no jets flying overhead.
I miss them. Never before have I heard anyone complain about the military jets in Fairbanks, most people think they are super cool.
Have they changed their routes lately to bother a new group of people?
Or are people just finally deciding that they don't like it anymore?
Better the sound of our jets breaking a sound barrier then the sound of their high jacked jets blowing up our people. Never forget 911
To underline the point, I am going to echo AKhusky, akguy and Dinjick.
There is nothing unpatriotic wrong about Americans voicing concerns or criticisms of the U.S. military. To do so honestly is about as American as you can get. To tell someone to leave the country because they don't agree with you is not in keeping with the values of this country
Suck it up. I live on Eielson and have to deal with the jets every day. It's a part of life if you live anywhere in the vicinity of Eielson. If you don't like it, pack it up and move.
suomi was there a point to that statement? Sonic Booms now deter terrorism?
Nice comment Evans......
Seems that you haven't even attempted to understand the spirit behind the comments above and I commend you on your unwavering superiority
I have a feeling if you live on Eielson - either you or yours has CHOSEN to serve in the military....a choice the local homeowners are not given when the Fighter Jocks pick some arbitrary spot to go supersonic...
A member of the Air Force has to live with it every day.....Believe me if you had to listen to my work phone ringing for a few hours a night you would be just as irritated. Point being, you enlisted into the Air Force, you weren't drafted, you joined voluntarily. You listen to jets, I listen to phones. I don't expect you to listen to my phone.
Just like you have "chosen" to live near an air force base. You "voluntarily" chose to live near Eielson and the jets are a part of life around here.
It;s not just the noise. Aircraft have been known to crash once in a while. What happens when one of these Air Force jets crashes into the city? How many people will be killed because the Air Force had to train over the largest city in the interior instead of the tens of thousands of unsettled wilderness?
The noise is no more annoying (to me) than the shooting that goes on all the time. I wish it would stop, but don't really care. It is a sign, though, of a far more dangerous problem.
I can see that this is pointless and people around here have nothing else to do than complain about everything.
Let these people whine. It just shows their ignorance. These same people will manufacture some other "injustice" to complain about, when this training is over. I doubt they have anyone close to them actually in the military, so don't see the importance of military training.
Thank you Blazer. How many times a year do they actually hear the "sonic boom"?? lol
Would not want to endanger the wolves Henry.
So with all of these noise complants maybe it should have been save Galena instead of save Eielson. That way they could move all the Red Flag exercises there and then the community would lose on the hundreds of thousands of dollars the visiting units bring to the local economy when they visit. Then there would be no noise at all from Eielson, no jobs on base, and no money from the airman.
Once again: hesusuallyright.
Just another instance of someone yelling "unpatriotic" because people are questioning something the government/military is doing.
It's getting so old.
would you like a little cheese with that whine?
that's getting old, too.
I find that the neighbors truck with the missing exhaust, and the Harley riders who insist on removing any kind of noise reduction systems previously installed on their bikes to eek out that extra tenth of a horse power, much more aggravating than the jets that are protecting our skies...
Who knows, maybe the reason for flying close to town is that the Air Force is doing their part to conserve fuel by not flying so far away to "open it up", ever think of that?
It's all part of being a greener military!
i agree with you clearh2o. motorcycles are the most obnoxious machines ever invented by man.
"Who knows, maybe the reason for flying close to town is that the Air Force is doing their part to conserve fuel by not flying so far away to "open it up", ever think of that?
It's all part of being a greener military!"
Finally a smart comment!
I live, literally, right next to WW. I hear Helicopters, Jets and Artillery practice everyday. It doesn't bother me. I live in a military town and I knew that when I moved here. For me it has nothing to do with the whole freedom thing. I grew up right next to an international airport and heard jets all day. You get used to it. I am listening to a helicopter as I type this. There are things in this town worth being concerned about. The sound of aircraft is not one of them.
Thank you Mr. Ralph Moore for your service in the military!! Deeply appreciated.
I personally don't mind the jets flying overhead. I love to watch them do their training stunts... Phenomenal!! Yes I've had my house shaken a few times. But I also don't place things of value so close to an edge to where it would fall off. I also don't go cheap on windows either!! And to those who will respond with my window comment...... you've got the internet right?? Am I sounding too mean to say, "disconnect the internet and use the extra cash for home improvements." ??
Wow, I think it's dead. Stop beating it.
Ever lived next door to a musher?
Yeah, but those dogs are howling for our freedom, so leave them alone, will ya?
baby_butterfly46 - >> But I also don't place things of value so close to an edge to where it would fall off. I also don't go cheap on windows either!! And to those who will respond with my window comment...... you've got the internet right?? Am I sounding too mean to say, "disconnect the internet and use the extra cash for home improvements >>
Do you realize what an ignorant comment that is? You are assuming that people are putting items of value too close to a window. How would you know that tidbit of information? Are you psychic? Are you such an informed person that you know exactly what kind of windows we have on our homes? How do you know that we have internet even? Do you have personal insight into that also? Or have you forgotten that internet service can be found at the public library? Or at the home of a friend? Out of all the comments made here, yours recieves the booby prize for being totally lame. Ride off into the sunset on your pink elephant Princess, or grow up a little before you decide to post another ridiculous and judgemental statement like this one.
I believe that living in this country allows me the freedom to put my valuables where I want to and to buy cheap windows. What if I only had the money for very narrow shelves and cheap windows? Does that mean I'm less of an American--- and don't have a right to voice concerns?
Wow, some people are taking this WAY too seriously
I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here.. The aircraft are not flying directly over the city of Fairbanks performing the moves that make the sonic booms; the flying is taking place over the range where it is supposed to. Remember sound travels and it travels further when it is mooving through cold air. You do what you do, I'll do what I do.. in the end, I'm just glad I'm an American and we have the right to our opinion.
Has anyone that is complaining or not complaining ever sent a care package to the troops. Just to thank them, and let them know that you do support them.
Many years ago, I used to handle noise complaints for Eielson AFB. Many people have valid complaints, especially those people out in the 22 mile or so area of Chena Hot Springs roads whose dwellings predate the jet engine or sonic boom. Flight patterns and routes off the end of the runway were carefully spelled out, and sometimes pilots wandered off their courses slightly. An aircraft doesn't have to create a sonic boom to cause issues. An F-16 in afterburner can be extremely loud even when flying over head at a "reasonable altitude". Aircraft noise can be extremely detrimental to live stock whose senses are over loaded by noise. I've seen the effects of an F-16 flyover on horses, cattle and smaller livestock.
In my experience nobody that complained held in ill will or were lacking Patriotism. They simply wanted base officials to be aware of their concerns and to be good neighbors.
I have been livng in the city of North Pole since 1982, retired Air Force now.
There is absolutely nothing that can be done about the fighter noise. Try as anyone will a MUFFLER cannot be used on a jet engine with afterburner. That is a noise that must be lived with if you chose to live near or around an Air Force Base.
However sonic boom is another complete story it is preventable and until this year I have personally heard less than a handful or two during my 26 years here.
Things happen during a flight that split second timing is required. I heard 2 booms in one day and they were close, shaking all walls etc. In all this spring I would say at least 4 were heard by me in the area. If I wasnt so pro these exercises I probably would complain. For those who would care to keep track. Writing down the time and date of the incident and where you live will give the powers that be the aircraft the therefore the pilot at fault. Usually it is a legitimate reason, however there is always that one "cowboy" who loves to play and he should be admonished. I was an airborne crewmember on RC135 aircraft and have seen many. Reporting this info to base personel should help in eliminating the "sonic noise"
Enough soap box.
Just a point about the training in remote areas suggested here. The ADF&G studied the effects of military jets flying over the caribou herds in their breeding and wintering grounds. In cooperation with the State, the AF subsequently restricted the airspace they use for training. Aparently people are not as affected by the noise as the caribou.
Personally I prefer the jets stay close to the metropolis and away from the places I go to get away from all the hustle and bustle. Back in the seventies sonic booms were normal noise and if the window cracked, we replaced it. Holding the military responsible for it would be like blaming DOT for the crack in your windshield. After all, they put the rocks on the roads didn't they?
Dinjick.... I have two boys and two dogs......sooooo therefore, I don't place valuables where they are likely to fall. Not only for the shaken mishaps caused by the loud jet noise like you assumed, but also for incidents where one of my sons will accidently bump a shelf. Nowhere have I stated that I am psychic nor that all people placed items close to an edge. Your assumptions. I was also simply stating that I don't go out and buy cheap crap like you obviously have. Stay off the acid....the 70's are over! NOW YOU CAN SAY THAT I MADE AN IGNORANT COMMENT!!
Imusuallyright..... Get a better paying job!! Really, it's not that hard. And who called you less of an American?? I certainly didn't.
Thank you geoben for your service as well!!
Hey zero-
No one has sent me a care package "just to thank" me for doing my job (for which I had to put myself through college to obtain.) Why would I do that for them?
Baby butterfly (such an apt name--and, as a woman, makes me cringe)--
How do you know what I get paid? And I would venture to guess that you could not last a day at my job-- it's tough intellectually and physically-- so no lectures about hard jobs, please. And actually, I have top of the line windows. The question was rhetorical. Get it? You inferred that people who complained about broken windows did not really have a right because perhaps, they hadn't bought the right ones. Trying to draw it out for you, that's all...
BenEfits-
Thank-you. I don't know if you were in on this discussion a month ago or so, but you describe my situation.
We are getting sonic boomed again. I almost had a kid severely trampled while riding a horse when we got boomed some years ago.
The booms are utterly unpredictable; some jets just make big noise, others may boom you. Ya just can't tell.
Today, my daughter was out walking the horse. She called and told me there was a sonic boom, the horse freaked out and got away from her. Fortunately, it ran home instead of all over the place.
Far more fortunately, she wasn't riding.
2cold4me-
Well, unfortunately I have to sell my horse and my house. I don't want to. It's beautiful where I live.
But if you miss it so much, contact me. Seriously. I know a bank won't finance it, so it must be financed by me.
Further, we did work out a deal about this between the borough and the military back in the mid-90's. Guess it's gone by the wayside.
So, if you want a nice place where you will get sonic boomed probably more than anywhere else in the populated borough, please contact me. Or anyone else. I really do have to sell.
blazer-
My dad was a lieutenant colonel and a fighter pilot in Korea. Don't even go there.
I still wear his 1957-58 flight suit as my winter gear. It is the best.
geoben-
Thank you too for rational thought. It certainly is needed here.
I live about a stones through from fort wainwright and i have only heard on boom yeah i know they come from eilson but the one i did hear about scarred they heck out of me i thought a propane bottle blew. Going to the gas station scares the heck out me to but i dont complain about that either it is gonna happen so just grin and bare. I wont go into detail about how much i fear the fuel delivery guy.
Imusuallyright
That was not personal directed at you.
Are you getting shot at were you work?
Do you get paid better then the military?
What’s wrong with doing something nice for the men and women that have to leave their families?
A Zero response to my post would have been better then showing that you dislike them.
It’s a good thing that people are willing to die for you right to say anything you want or live any way you chose too.
My name is 0cents or 0 not zero. I thought you wanted to change the tone
I said this last time everyone was on here whining....The Air Force has rules regarding this matter, not just AF rules, but FAA rules. When those pilots went supersonic, the local communities weren't then only ones to know about it.
That being said, if pilots broke rules they can and will be investigated accordingly.
Also, these pilots (AF, Marines, Navy....) are training for war so we can be more capable against our adversaries like Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. Can anyone on here tell me the status of the Iraq, Irania, or afghan Air Forces????
Why don't we have a DOS to stop the bullying and bigotry against supersonic jets......haha
Zero-
Now it's just a nickname... with a little affection. If you used your own name, I'd respect that, but as long as we're anonymous I'd think a little creative license would be tolerated. My username is bastardized all the time and I'm cool with it.
My dislike of many individuals in the military did not has nothing to do with my post. The point is, we all work hard at our job and contribute to our country in our own ways. Personally, I have worked very hard to get where I am and do not get a reward beyond satisfaction and a paycheck. Who gets to decide what's really a sacrifice? I've left my family for three summers in a row for my job--- which is dangerous. Strangers don't send me a care package, and I don’t expect one.
The jets are not the only sound I'm hearing, there is a distinct whiiiiiiinig noise too. Do you hear it?
GDogg-
I don't think the twisting will work here. Valid concerns are valid concerns. Keep trying to guilt people into not voicing them if you think that will work, but I think you'll find that not many will fall for it.
Far too many people whine. Let them be little. Everyone can bet their a$$ that if something happened here and there was no "military", they'd be screaming for help. It just seems more of a convenience these days. They have no idea.
imusuallyright..... Since a young girl I've had a fascination with butterflies.... so my father called me his "baby butterfly". HOLY FRICKEN CRAP..........theres my screenname!! Being a woman of 5'3" I've been told it's pretty impressive to bench 240 and leg weights of 600. So what job is it that I can't simply do?? And please tell me where I said that no one had a right?? Quick you better go and grab your shovel!!
IM-U-Right
Is that paycheck worth leaving your family?
Are you sacrificing your family for that paycheck?
I haven't met anyone who didn't loose thier family from working on the slope.
I made a promise to myself not to go back up north and since 1984 I've been in Fairbanks.
I'm proud of the work I have done, but I always have taken satisfaction in helping people out and not asking for anything in return.
Zero-
I don't work on the slope. The paycheck's about doing my part to take care of them, so yeah, way worth it. Remote fieldwork does not equal losing my family, in my case. Thanks for the scare tactic...won't work on me, though.
BBfly-
Some people offer excuses for the military and some people expect them to act professionally. That "whine" tactic has not worked yet and no one is falling for it.
You very clearly implied that, if someone's property was damaged by the sonic booms, it was their own fault (for their choice of windows and placement of things of value) and not that of the sonic booms.
That's misdirecting blame and an attempt to stop people from voicing their concerns. It would be an infringement of rights of anybody believed it. Good try, though.
IMUR-
Could the act of misdirecting blame in an attempt to stop people from voicing their rights be considered whining?
Uh-oh.
That would mean that the people that are calling "dissenters" whiners were actually...
whining...
themselves...
(head explodes)
Imusuallyright**but not this time** By me saying that I don't place things of value close to an edge or that I don't go cheap on windows, DOES NOT mean that I'm pointing fingers. I was simply saying that I have 2 boys and 2 dogs. That's common sense on my part, don't ya think?!?!?! Dinjick obviously has thin or aging windows to be cracked by jets. (holy crap.....I'm starting to assume things!)
I'm not attempting to stop people from "voicing" their concerns. You can talk all you want honey, but quit reading between the lines. Now that I drew it out for you..... Everyone have a good night!!
I remember a time when our Viet Nam boys came back from the war. They certainly didn't recieve a hero's welcome, unlike today's military who demands our gratitude. I'm glad we have a military and I appreciate the sacrifices they make, but I also acknowledge the fact that many non-military people make sacrifices for our freedom that are just as great. Instead of drawing lines, I think it would be more beneficial if we all took the time to listen to one another.
Now about those sonic booms....I don't care WHO is making them, all I am saying is that they are creating damages to property and livestock, not just my own but to my neighbors also. Get off the 'your bashing the military' kick and come back down to earth. I guarentee if someone drove by your property, threw a rock at your house and broke a few windows, you wouldn't sit back on your thumbs and say, "Oh well..." Someone mentioned earlier that their daughter was thrown from her horse when one of those booms spooked it. It's a good thing she wasn't seriously injured, but if she was, should that child's parents breathe a heavy sigh and say, 'Oh well, that's the price of freedom."?
Granted, the military needs to train, but all I'm asking is that they don't do it right above a community. With today's economy, every penny counts and repairs are costly. For some folks, replacing a damaged window caused by a sonic boom can mean the difference between replacing it or paying a fuel oil bill. Courtesy and respect goes both ways.
Baby butterfly...are you in the window business? You seem to have an amazing talent to be able to detect the age of a window without even seeing it.
What year did you graduate from the School of Ignorance? I'll bet you earned your bachelor's degree in the Fine Art of Assumption.
This is all so very amusing! Please keep posting comments people, I love it! It's just hilarious how so many people use these "gripe" forums to vent whatever the frustration of the day is! Keep them coming!
Allen,
My coffee was too cold this morning.
nice work gang. if you did get a window broken. You can probably get your homeowners insurance to pay for it. but the deductible is probably more than the window is worth. That's unfortunate.
Do you hear the jets going 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? did you make these complaints when Eielson was a functioning AFB? Because you know that now it's just a "training facility", hence Red Flag Alaska.
Indeed this is a dead horse, and people are kicking it, including me.
I feel shame.
The dog team is much more annoying,
and I love the sound of jets,
and harleys, and screaming kids playing,
What a great country we have! I love it.
On the way home from work last week a sonic boom caused my fan belt to break.
Or was it gorebull warming?
Here is the Eilson web page with info on how to report noise complaints. If the problem is reported and found to be systemic, then perhaps a small change in an aircrafts route or altitude will help. Sorry if someone already posted this:
http://www.eielson.af.mil/questions/topi...
I heard from a credible source on the radio the other day that the Air Force has a system whereby you can report property damage caused by their sonic booms and put in a claim for damages. Of course the burden of proof will be on the homeowner to prove that it was the sonic boom that caused the property damage. I suggest that you contact Eielson if you need such a claim.
Dinjick: "I live out here in Two Rivers and those sonic booms are extremely loud. They rattle the windows on our house and terrify our livestock. When one of our windows cracks, who pays for the damage? It's not fair that we should have to, especially when you take into account the fact that Alaska has remote areas more suited to that kind of training."
Maybe I had a little too much coffee yesterday, but I was just going off by your "when our windows cracks". Maybe I should have asked questions. Did your window crack?? Did it shatter?? If so, over a period of time, or when one jet was passing?? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that thin or aging windows will crack or shatter at some noise. Even from something simple as a stereo in the house. AND if you have read my posts clearly, would you have commented the way you have or started attacking me by making assumptions?? I think you have beaten me to the School of Ignorance and the Fine Art of Assumption!!
Dinjick: remember a time when our Viet Nam boys came back from the war. They certainly didn't recieve a hero's welcome, unlike today's military who demands our gratitude.
My husband is active duty and most of my friends serve in the military as well as family members and I don't recall anyone of them "demanding" gratitude.
I'm sure you'll find something else to complain about.
What about the UFOs? Thy can be pretty loud too.
I live in the Two Rivers area
And yes they are loud it wakes me and dogs up and rumbles the house.
But I am glad to hear them . Damage ? If there is damage I will gladly pay for my window for the comfort of knowing they are up there to protect me . Just protect me the rest are complaining!!!!
man. you people have too much time on your hands. Ive been to Ft WW and EAFB. Love the area. But I gotta tell ya, if this is how the residents of the daggon Tanana Valley live day to day, then I'm glad I came back to Virginia.
To The Alaska Curmudgeon -
No, there not.
I understand that Fort Wainwright and Eielson AFB have been around for quite a few years. I can see folks who have been leaving near these areas for a long time being a little bothered by the noise, but what I can't understand is why some folks decided to buy homes near air fields, and then complain about noise.
Nothing like a little AIR POWER sound / music to the ears. Enjoy it they are govt. property 24/7 to protect us.
IUR-
I would never try to stop people from voicing their opinions. Isn't that why we are hearing the cool loud noises? It is so people have the right to whine and complain. Keep complaining, it is your right, thanks to sonic booms and loud noises of yesteryear. Freedom isn't free, you bunch of ingrates.
iur
If I was going to use a scare tactic I wouldn't be nice.
I was using truth tactic.
The truth as I see it...
I don't like the noise very much and in fact I find it very uncomfortable at times.
However, this is the price I pay to live in a free country with the most highly trained, competent and devoted military force in the world. Thank gosh I have them! So train on, I'll live with it and realize it is the price I pay for my freedom. Freedom has NEVER been either cheap or easy.
On another note, I was offended by the remark earlier about motorcyles being the worst thing in the world. Not all of us motorcyclists like noisy bikes, snowmobiles or any other loud motor vehicle. Being an avid motorcyclist for 40 years+, I dislike any loud machine outside of a race track. Please don't group all the motorcyclists out there for the few that abuse and disturb others.
Thanks
Hah, if anything is obnoxious, it's those with the WAY LOUD car steroes. Sorry folks, but most of us don't want to hear your C**P while you're not in your car, and I can't even hear the cashier across the counter from me.
That's just plain RUDE. Turn it down. Don't share it with me.
GRRRRRRRRRR...
/rant
~Retired chock-kicker for subsonic aircraft.
Dude, that was some of the best reading I have done in awhile! I just love how passionate everyone is! Keep it up, please! Oh yeah, and the jet noise doesn't bother me. I have had horses and livestock my entire life and have grown up at AF bases. I have never had a horse spook from a sonic boom. Livestock in Alaska must be fragile.
Aim high!
Yota-I second that one! I cannot stand to hear that thumping bass in folks vehicles. My own neighborhood has two people who blare their thumping bass so loud that I can hear it in my living room with the TV on. Of course when you ask them to turn it down, they get all huffy. No one wants to hear that crap! Alaska is becoming just as ghetto as Vegas is. Time to move!
I am just glad I finally know what the noise was!
