Public Safety Report — May 7

The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Assault

Timothy Lee-Andrew Hook, 20, of North Pole, was charged with fourth-degree assault and reckless endangerment after he allegedly threw his wife to the ground while she was holding their 1-month-old child. The incident occurred Sunday.

DUI

• Barbara Ann Howard, 46, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers received a report of a possibly intoxicated driver Friday near 305 Mile Parks Highway.

A chemical test found her breath-alcohol content to be 0.146.

• Paul Lawrence Thomas, 45, of Fort Wainwright, was charged with driving under the influence after troopers spotted him speeding Saturday on the Mitchell Expressway.

A chemical test found his breath-alcohol content to be 0.189, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

Theft

• Tools worth more than $2,800 were reported stolen Monday from a construction site in the 1000 block of 27th Avenue.

• Clothes and medication were reported stolen from a van Monday afternoon while it was parked at the College Road Safeway.

• A woman reported $2 was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at an Airport Way business on April 22. Troopers are investigating.

Vehicle collision

A Fairbanks man was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital following a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon.

James Griffin, 67, was traveling northbound on Sheep Creek Road when he lost control of his 1998 Honda motorcycle and slid off the bike and into a nearby ditch. He was not wearing a helmet at the time. Damage to the bike was estimated at $6,000.
