Buyer beware

To the editor:

Anyone considering installing a new roof should strongly consider sticking with local roof businesses and contractors. We made the mistake of purchasing a metal shingle roof through a Canadian-based outfit. The leaking, sloughing of snow and problems related to what we can only presume to be a combination of the product and its installation have never been resolved. The company refuses to return phone calls. We encourage you to go local and stay local. Local merchants are likely to be far more responsive to issues should they occur.

This is a situation in which my dear ol' Daddy would have said:
If ya' think you're gonna cut a fat hog, be prepared for the blood and guts. . .

Buying local does not make me feel any better about my leaking roof or the poor installation that led to water running down my walls the spring. I've mailed letters and left messages but no response.
