Done with Don

To the editor:

Don Young’s statements, made in the context of his request that the House Transportation subcommittee add 72 cents to the federal gasoline tax (News-Miner, May 9) clearly reflect that he has no idea of how the vast majority of Americans live and has no interest in finding out. In these statements, his contempt for his Alaskan constituency and the American public in general is obvious. Also apparent is his belief that he owes no accountability to Alaskan voters. Young is beyond being out of touch and Alaskans should not continue to tolerate a representative who insults and demeans Americans. Re-electing this individual would be a travesty.

It was a sarcastic comment, that was blown out of proportion. However, the Dems do seem to think that we can tax our way out of high fuel prices. Do you also find that insulting and demeaning? Or is your outrage partisan?

Young is a blowhard, and I'm supporting Parnell. But come on, it was just a lousy joke.

It never ceases to amaze me how ones words can be twisted around to mean what ever someone else wants it to and not always what was intended. We do need to start looking for representation that will be there for the next twenty years, but not off the merit of this.

Don Young is a lousy joke!! I have the story that I have told several times of how well Don represented a crew of us govt. workers IN FORT YUKON. All he would have to have done was make a phone call, write two sentences to the right person, but no....we got NO RESPONSE in FIVE LETTERS!! Every letter was mailed from the post office in Fort Yukon. His home!! His home my ***, Don Young is a disgrace to Alaskans and should have been sent packing YEARS AGO!!!

The bad part of a political joke is sometimes they get elected

Correction Tony, the bad part is they usually get RE-elected.

Term limits for everyone by referendum vote is the only answer. We have to stop allowing these people to ensconce themselves in a seat until they no longer are in touch with their constituency.

It obviously has to be a referendum vote of the people because the fat cats in office wont force term limits on themselves.

But then again, mabey 4 syllable words are too big to use around people who think cooks roast meat in a soup pot. (FYI, its a STAKE, not a steak...)
