To the editor:
On May 5, my mother broke down on the side of the highway in Salcha. I would like to thank those of you who stopped to make sure she was OK. It sure is nice to know that in this crazy world we live in, there are still those who take time out of their busy lives to stop and help a stranger in need.
I would also like to thank Margie, Tok-area dispatcher with Alaska State Troopers, for calling a Fairbanks trooper to stop and check on my mom. You are an angel! And also to the Alaska State Trooper who stopped, thank you, and we are so glad you are out there every day. We will never know your names — but know that your concern and kindness will not be forgotten.

I'll never forget the time my husband demonstrated how to change the tire on our truck. When he got done he asked if I learned anything. I said, "Yes I did. While you were down there changing the tire three different fellows stopped to see if they could help me. When they seen you were changing it two offered to take me out for pie and coffee while you did it."
I just love Fairbanks.
So, what kind of pie did you have?
Apple that was when Tacks was still open.
really? my husband had to change his tire at 60 below this winter in his full air force uniform on the side of the road and people threw trash at him... not a single person stopped to help.
