Hite

Loren C. Hite, 84, of Adrian, Ore., passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008. He passed peacefully at home with his wife, sons and granddaughter at his side.
Loren was born in Cascade, Idaho to Fred and Blanche Hite on April 30, 1924.
Loren married Helen L. Reffett and they began a long and adventurous life together. Sons, Larry Dean and Loren Edward, were born in Ontario, Ore. They moved to Haines, Ore., and the Baker Mountains running a logging camp soon after.
Being not only enterprising but adventurous, they soon packed up to travel to Alaska in 1959.  There, Loren worked in construction as an operator with the Operating Engineers Union Local 302 since 1960.
Later he and his sons mined for gold in the Central mining district. They often lived in the most remote of places but they settled permanently in Fairbanks. In 1989 Loren and Helen moved back to their “roots” in the Owyhee area. They have lived leisurely, able to see both childhood homes, until the present day.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and Walter Hite; and his sister, Iris Osborn.
Loren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Patty and Loren “Shorty” and wife Bari, all of Fairbanks; grandchildren, LeAnna, Jason, Tammy and Maria; great-grandchild, Samantha; great-great grandchildren, Felicia and Jeremiah; and his sister, Doris Wilson of Nyssa, Ore.
Family and friends are welcome to attend graveside services at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, at Owyhee Cemetery in Nyssa, Ore.                            .
