Palin to meet with Obama and Biden
Published Tuesday, November 25, 2008
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin will be traveling to Philadelphia next week where she will join her fellow governors at a meeting with President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden.
The meeting, which will focus on the economic challenges facing the states, comes at the invitation of the National Governors Association.
Palin said she looks forward to working with the Obama administration on issues facing Alaska, as well as the nation.
"I appreciate and welcome this bipartisan opportunity to work with my fellow governors to find solutions to the many issues that are plaguing our economy," Palin said in a news release.

They are probably going to offer her a high-level cabinet job!
Go Sarah!
Sarah come home. Enough galavanting around. You got lots of work to do here. Remember us?
They don't give cabinet jobs to idiots like Palin.
Maybe Sarah will take a pigskin (football) with her and have Obama and Biden sign it in lipstick
Does that mean Sarah has been paling around with people that pal around with domestic terrorists?
luvak, this is a GOVERNORS' meeting. I think this qualifies as part of her job as governor...or would you prefer our state to work in complete isolation without consulting other states and the national administration?
Stand back, knee-jerk reactions are forthcoming. You know, it would not kill some of you nonstop bloggers to present an original idea every once in a while. The football comment qualifies as one so no rush for more.
If I were her I would think that a congratulatory gift would be in order, how about a large, juicy caribou steak for each of them. Or a big fat salmon.
It's very gracious of Obama & Biden, but especially Obama, to meet with the woman who smeared his name, reputation, and loyalty to this country in her vp campaign.
It's encouraging that all three seem to be willing to let bygones be bygones.
Now that the campaign is over, Sarah can retract her sharp claws. She can be very engaging, personable, and down to earth, and I think she'll let this side of herself come out in next week's meeting with the new prez & vp. I don't think she'll let Alaska down in this regard.
But she does need to come home, back to Alaska. Yes, in the internet age, she can work from anywhere, but perceptions are powerful, and too many of us are starting to perceive her to be negligent of her duties. Too many of us are already feeling like a neglected citizenry.
Just for the halibut ay roadtrip
Yes, and many of you are being perceived as mean kitties.
However, it is common for people to feel isolated and alone this time of year. Is that what you are feeling? It's OK, It's OK to be sad, it's OK.
Sarah could give them chocolate covered moose nuggets, for fun. That would be funny to see the expression on their faces.
I think it's great, time to get to work!! Solve the problems your're paid to solve, clean slate and all that. Wish 'em luck folks...!! :)
Gift? How about a turkey?
Everyone involved are simply "doing what they were hired to do." Nothing new or momentous there. The game continues...... it is called Politics; probably the Second (*or Third) Oldest profession in the World......
You talk about neglect, the elect is starting to back peddle on all of his issues that seem to have put him in the white house, sure seems the elect needs to be educated by the gov's of america to fill in the empty suit and as for change the only change so far is changing the name of an administration from clinton to the elect. Alot of us have put up with bush and we will tolerate the elect for 4 years too. Sarah keep an eye on washington because they are going to hit alaska hard just to slow you down and all the elects paid bloggers are surely not going to let up the are afraid. the elect is going to turn the affairs of america over to his cabinet so why all the fuss here in alaska.
how about a barrel of oil and tell 'em it's the last one.
How about some borscht? She could just pop over to Russia to get some.
Right on, Briseno! For once, I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's all politics, and they're all doing what good politicians do.
Polarmark, that's it, in a nutshell. Tell 'em it's the last barrel. That's the ticket. Keep our cards and the hands we play with them close to our chest. A possible interpretation of that strategy is that we just keep our invaluable fossils fuels right where they are. In the ground. And if we play our cards right, maybe we can afford to keep them right there until there's an *obscene* level of profit to be made by digging them up.
Fossil fuels are simple too high in BTU content to ever really lose value, from an energy production standpoint. We'll do ourselves, and future generations of Alaskans, a great favor if we can keep as many of our hydrocarbons untapped for as long as possible.
Yep, let's tell them, that's it, that's our last barrel, all the while knowing of the untapped wealth beneath our feet.
I like your strategy, polarmark.
pioneerAk
huh???? Everyone else seems to be lite hearted and their comments make sense.
Tok, we here in Alaska make better borcht than you find in all of Russia. With Alaskan veggies too! Instead of bacon we put in porcupine or rump of black bear, whichever.
I sure hope Obama comes through for US better than G.W. did....Now according to me, Bush Chaney & Co deserve to go to jail before Ted Stevens. I'm usually right...At least Ted never blew anyone's face off.
And didn't the Dems promise to impeach the squatter? I'm still waiting...
LadyNYC have you called the cops on Wallstreet yet? It IS YOUR BUSINESS! NYPD....sic 'em! Lock them up after you whollup their heads a few times, lower ones too. Christmas bonuses, bull kaka!
She should give them each a 22 cal. rifle and invite them to a Brown Bear hunt on Kodiak island. lol
I'd rather see them be the real hunters they say we're not....give them a bow, some bolts and a knife. Yeah BABY!
kind of an interesting turn of events. hopefully the group can do something productive
Palin? Cavorting with Terrorist Sympathizers.... Tsk Tsk Tsk
She's still an idiot - who are these "Alaskan's" that voted for her?
Did they have a clue - or just hope?

"I appreciate and welcome this bipartisan opportunity to work with my fellow governors to find solutions to the many issues that are plaguing our economy,"
Notice Sarah did not mention working in a bipartisan fashion with Obama or Biden.
Akhusky why should, but then again this newspaper isn't necessarily going to say if she did or not.
I seem to remember that the State of Alaska pays Palin a salary and more to be an acting governor. We got ripped off for months during the presidential campaign. What seems to be the problem now? And I'm not talking about ANOTHER governor's conference (how many are there?) but her campaigning for Chamblis in Georgia. Really, if she doesn't want to be governor, please just resign and let Parnell do the work. Or maybe she doesn't have that much work to really do. In that case, she is not making a good point for her executive experience for her run in 2012. Is she towing any of the kids along for this? Man, I am really getting tired of Palin 24-7.
Have any of the people criticising Palin for 2 months of campaigning away from Alaska said one thing about Obama and Clinton campaigning for 2 YEARS? Or is it only cheap talk from malcontents who got to use Palin as a springboard to get their angst into a public forum?
I think they aren't complaining about President Elect Obama or Senator Clinton because they are not their Governor. Just a thought.....
I wish all in attendance luck, our economy isn't going to be something that can be solved in one meeting.
Happy Thanksgiving!

That don't count! Democrats are exempt from criticism, as it's their birthright to campaign for higher office. The Democrats feel that they are called to a higher position by their adoring public, whereas Democrats are convinced that Republicans are devious, racist, under handed and negligent of their constituents.
It's complicated, and I dont fully understand it. All one has to remember in order to earn their mouse ears is D=good, R=bad.
I have been against Obama from the start. If John McCain can bury the hatchet, Pledge support and Give support...So can I. It is hard to do. Being an adult is hard to do once you’re used to acting like a child with back-stabbing remarks like those being made by others now and that I have DEFINATLY made in the past few weeks. The offer VP was a dream comes true for anyone in politics. Who would not have jumped at the chance? She would have still been serving us plus the whole country. Things did not go that way. We all had a vote. That is one thing that makes the USA still the best country in the world. If you don't understand that you have my sympathy. I think Palin has learned allot on how the political system works, (which is something I will never understand). When I meant with Begich, when he meant with Vets at American Legion we talked one on one. He told me how thing have and are changing in Washington. I think Palin might have learned that too, and that is what she is trying to do. Try giving Obama, Palin and the elected officials a chance to prove themselves or disprove themselves.
If I can do it, anyone can. I think after 20 years in the USAF arguing is in my blood... Irregardless that’s the way I feel and I wish all of you a save and Happy Thanksgiving.
Are we going to get a report on the budget before she leaves? Do we get an update on the status of the gas line? Will she comment on how Alaskans should get through the winter with still high fuel costs? I'm letting my representatives/senators know my opinions and hope others will do the same. If Sarah wants the celebrity life, she should quit the current job and go for it. I'm sure there are enough deals on the table right now to compesate her for a very long time. The State shouldn't be taking on that burden.
"That don't count! Democrats are exempt from criticism,"
glacerless, you seem to have absolutely nothing new to say this morning other then the same tired old general statements, that republicans are all seen by democrats as racist, and how the democrats wont tolerate criticism etc etc etc. I realize it is a slow news day, and how you may actually see that your side is the victim here that gets all the criticism and that you R's don't ever dish any out yourself, but have you nothing more to say other then whining like a spoiled child or bad loser on every post? Come on glacier, show us some of those "boot in your a$$" links to interesting new insights on how the Demo's have actually been the masterminds on a plot to totally screw the economy by wanting to raise taxes or whatever, just stop with the whining! It doesn't go well with the image of a hawkish GOP, bristling with weapons, tough on crime, tough on countries that harbor terrorist, tough on prisoners of war, and tree hugging pansy liberals.
roadtrip, no one on here qualifies as a "blogger" just because they leave a comment on an article. Leaving comments on news articles is nothing new, it's just new to Fairbanks.
A blogger has a blog where they post text, sometimes on a daily basis, and people leave comments etc. It's a web log, journal type of animal.
It would be more accurate to terms the users here as the "Commenteers". LOL.
The republicans just dont get it with Sarah. You know darn well her campaiging in geogria will just be more hate rallys like she held before with her down there it will be sure the democrat will win. The republicans should of learned by now that all the negative campaiging Sarah and John did lost them the election. If the republicans let her on the ticket in 2012 they will loose another election. I am a republican but if Sarah is any where near that ticket I am go to go independent. From the way you people talk up in Alaska about her I dont see why you voted for her. What were you guys thinking.
She's got a purty mouth!
glacier-less: if akbob can do it, why can't you?
Bullet o5 these comments are mine along and may or may not be the opinion of all Alaskans. I never knew these comments existed till I fired a couple letter to editor, got bad mouthed, and a friend told me about it. Sure there are people who don't like Sarah Palin for what ever reason. Some got nothing better to do with their time. (Like me for awhile). But believe me she would win easily if she ran again. Alaska is different. For the most part we're retired military and renegades. The majority of the population is in the Anchorage/Wasilla area. Palin was mayor of Wasilla. Believe me she would definitely win. It is a feud Anchorage people say Fairbanks is a old mining town and that's all it'll ever be, We do have allot of mining but this is real Alaska, Not Anchorage... Anchorage used to be Alaska's shopping center. We don't need to go there all the time any more. I hate driving in Anchorage. It is just like any other big city. I do carry a 9 mm when down there because you can stop for gas and be in the middle of a drug conflict. The one good thing about Anchorage is the hospitals. Although Fairbanks hosp can now do heart stents. Everything except open heart surgery...but that is coming real soon, so I'm told. Anchorage has the entire Kenai Peninsula for its playground---- Best fishing in the world bar none. Most of us consider Anchorage as Northern Seattle.
And again this is just ONE MAN/S OPINION. I’ve been here for 28 years and 3 years in Anchorage before that. We are unique up here and that’s the way we like it. If we don’t like it here, we leave. Oh yea, one more thing, it gets very cold up here (-30 and colder) here but we usually have beautiful summers. Anchorage does not have the cold or the nice summers.
Anchorage is a dump!

Sorry that I didn't participate in heaping scorn on Sarah Palin, like so many of the posters that you seen to find enjoyable and acceptable. I have a suggestion for you. Don't read my comments. Just ignore them. It's OK. I wont be offended.
tok---
I hope, to the bottom of my soul, that Obama's presidency is a great success for the country. No ifs, ands, or buts. My passion for the United States of America is much bigger than my personal ego.
That don't mean that I have to shut my eyes and mouth, does it?
But, on a clear day, you can see Alaska from Anchorage.
"Don't read my comments. Just ignore them. It's OK. I wont be offended."
One really doesn't have to glacier, you pretty much have the same old whine in everyone of your posts. So I wont comment on your posts so long as you don't comment on anything of mine, agreed?
ab---
Nope.
You dont get to make the rules.
Grow up, people. She is doing her job.
A high-level cabinet job. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ....URGH....HRMMPPPHHHH...HO HO HO!
Governor Palin, please read your employment contract again. You were not hired by the people of Alaska to "find solutions to the many issues that are plaguing our economy." You were not hired by us to campaign for a Georgia Republican loser who could not even pull a majority in the reddest state in America. You were hired by us to govern our state. As your employers, the people of Alaska demand that you return to work at once. Please clock in on time on Monday and get to it. Oh, and please stop embarrassing us on prime time TV with your fantasies. Work your current shift, and then we'll talk.
sarah,dont forget the knee pads.
Tell me Alaskans, where did find that talkin machine?
Did she really walk across the Bearing Straits from Russia?
