Chalkyitsik couple allegedly fires shotgun at house

Published Saturday, April 19, 2008

A Chalkyitsik couple has been charged with firing a shotgun at a house multiple times.

Agnes Druck, 51, and Peter Druck, 44, each face one count of third-degree assault, second-degree weapons misconduct and fourth-degree weapons misconduct.

Agnes Druck was visiting her sister’s house — which is located across the street from her own home — Wednesday night, when her sister asked her to leave because she was intoxicated and mistreating people, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

She and her husband returned several minutes later with a 12 gauge shotgun and allegedly fired about a half dozen shots at the side of the house as they passed the gun back and forth. At least three people were in the home at the time.

Alaska State Troopers were called to Chalkyitsik and saw several holes in the side of the home. Peter Druck told troopers that he went to the home with the gun after his wife told him that someone there had threatened her, according to the complaint.

I must say nekodh, people do a pretty good job of making racey issues without the Newsminers' help. I would just like to know how well Chalkyitsik's alcohol ban is working?

Chalkyitsik's ban on alcohol is working about as well as any other village's ban. Not worth a darn!! People are going to get something to drink if they are so inclined. Be it alcohol, or in some cases, other liquids that are incredibly harmful to the body. Personally, I would not live in a "dry" village. I spend a part of every year in the village, but in the last 20 years, they have all been wet!

Racism is a very delicate topic and how to deal with it on a forum such as this doesn't make it any easier. There is a difference between a discussion of race and deliberately offensive comments on the topic. Where to draw the line can be difficult. I've drawn the line here.
