FREMONT, N.H. -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's husband refused to comment Saturday on a legislative report that found the governor violated state ethics laws, with his help.
While attending a snowmobiling event, Todd Palin did not answer a question about the report, which said Sarah Palin abused her power by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper.
McCain's New Hampshire spokesman, Jeff Grappone, said Palin would not be taking questions from the media during his visit.
The report said Todd Palin led the charge against Trooper Mike Wooten and he used his extraordinary access to the governor's office and his wife's advisers to try to get Wooten fired.
The McCain campaign said the report is politically motivated.
Todd Palin was visting the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association's annual grass drag competition. He spoke to the crowd briefly before the day's racing events began and asked them to vote for McCain and Palin.
"We have a real choice this election," he said. "John McCain and my wife are reformers."
In very brief remarks, Palin also said the campaign was excited this week to receive the backing of the National Rifle Association.
He also signed autographs for fans who know him as a championship snowmobile racer.
Sen. John Sununu also campaigned at the event. Sununu, who is in a close re-election race with former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen, said he had not spoken with Todd Palin about the report.
"I think the report said she acted completely within the law," said Sununu.
Palin was at the event for more than two hours. He visited with vendors and watched a water crossing race, where snowmobile riders race their machines over water.
Tom Thomson, a member of McCain's state leadership team, said he pushed the campaign to bring Todd Palin to the event.
"It's a great honor for New Hampshire's snowmobiling community," said Thomson. Snowmobiling is a popular New Hampshire sport and brings $1.2 billion into the state's economy annually, he said.
"People respond to him," Thomson said. "They love his wife, too."
Paula Martin, a Republican from Sandown, said she brought her children to the event to see Palin and will bring them to see Sarah Palin when she visits the state next week. She plans to vote for McCain and said Sarah Palin was a great pick as a running mate.
"I think being a strong woman who is successful is wonderful," said Martin. "Common sense, strength and focus are good attributes."
Cliff Wheeler, an independent voter from Orange, said he was excited to meet Todd Palin, who he called a snowmobile racing legend.
"My mind has been made up from the beginning. It's McCain-Palin," he said. "When he chose Mrs. Palin, I was like, 'Yes!'"
While the event drew a mostly conservative crowd, not everyone said they would vote for McCain. Wheeler's friend, Doug Tucker from Enfield, said he would vote for Barack Obama. As a Democrat and a postal service worker, Tucker said he wants a president who support public programs.

duh,
two wrongs don't make a right.
Paylin should no betta.
At first she denied any pressure in relation to Wooten, now she says, the pressure was justified. Very honest indeed. My g-d doesn't respect either party in this situation. Both should seek consoling and niether should be in charge of our great country.
So, what will the First Dude do with his "extraordinary access" to the White House?
I think the Troopers should have done their jobs in the first place and fired a officer who used a taser on a ten-year-old, even if the kid asked him to. A responsible adult, especially a police officer, should know better than to do that.
Doris, so by "the Troopers" do you mean the former colonel and commissioner who retired over 2 years ago and who none of us have any control over?
doris,
I shudder to think what would happen if the first DUD, were in the white hose. probably make G.W.B. look like choir boy. Then there is chenny, in that case, there is no hope, no one can equal him.
There apparently is no accountability for people that are in denial.
Wootens misdeeds were investigated and he was punished. Case closed, unless you think you can abuse the Governors office to extract revenge.Resign Sarah, Resign. You have violated the trust of the people of the Great State of Alaska.
Todd picked the wrong time not to talk. Our First Dude's got some 'plaining to do when he and Gov Sarah come back home on November 5.
Simply stated, I sure do not want Palin or her husband occupying the White House, representing the United States here or overseas, or filling our TV screens and news media with their cute little faces. It's been a very interesting and colorful five weeks or so, but by November 4, hum-daddy I'll be glad to get rid of this little soap opera family!
But on a positive note, I sure am interested in visiting Alaska now! I'm sure all of this will be great for tourism!
Best wishes!

I'm sorry. You're too late. We Alaskans are no longer allowing empty headed liberals like yourself to visit our great state. We already have our quota.
Face it, you wouldn't enjoy being so far away from your cultural anchors up here anyways, especially if you actually had to get out of the tour bus or away from the fancy hotel. That is, unless you are a strident environmentalist, in which case we can hopefully drop you 100 miles from the nearest redneck, oops, I mean civilization. Otherwise, we have officially closed the border. Please stay home.
Glacierles, once upon a time, you were an amusing and charming poster. True, you were, and are, right wing, but, once upon a time, you were able to offer your opinions in a spirit of good-humor, and bonhomie. You and I disagree on just about everything, but I've learned a lot from you, from your perspective, over the months.
Not so any longer. I can't wait until November 5, when this election will be *over.* Maybe then, we'll be able to go back to being a civilized populace again.
I want the Glacierles back that I once knew.
You're too riddled with anger and contempt, these days. Honestly, I can't say I'm doing any better - this election seems to be bringing out the worst in me, as well. I acknowledge that. I also acknowledge that it's bringing out the worst in you, glacierles.
True, I don't really know you, but it seems to me, unfit of you, for *you* to tell outsiders to stay the heck away, that what they have to say doesn't matter to you.
True, I don't know you. Even so, a sentiment like that seems most unbefitting of you. At least the part of you that I've gotten to know since March.
I think these posts are hilarious! I don't care either way which is true. Did Gov. Palin pressure the firing of Wooten, or did Todd use his "special access pass" to the governors office to add the pressure. Is that pass anything like a "kitchen pass"? Todd is just the "First Dude", nothing more. Why would the safety commissioner be intimidated and pressured into firing wooten by Todd in the first place; in the governors office or any where for that matter. It's not like Todd asked him to go hunting with him...lol. Is there more to the governors office than the public knows about that makes it an intimidating place...lol. This is too funny! Please, keep going on and on about something you have no control over in any way. The rest of us are enjoying the high level of banter that goes on over this. I'd like to see Gov. Palin and the "First Dude" Todd go to see Hugh Hefner at his house. Now THAT would worth seing. I'll bet the DNM website would crash from all the comments.
The Republican Party isn't the same one my grampa used to preach about. Their original ideas have been morphed by some unforseen circumstances.. Such as
In the 1960's the Democrats were forced to acknowledge and to endorse the American Civil Rights Act, which gave voting rights to the minorities, especially the African Americans.. This in turn, frove the Dixiecrats to jump from the Democrats to the Republicans.. The racism, greed and avarice of the Dixiecrats attracted the Neo Conservative with their Neo Nazi ideals.
The Neo Cons took over the Republican Party the Dixiecrats didn't even realize they were outclassed and rendered irrelevant.
The Neo Cons realized they needed extra votes to consolidate their power, so they created a series of wedge issues which attracted the hypocrisy and bigotry of the Religious Idiots.. Whho now are trying to ram their bas--rdized version of Christianity down our throats.. One which supports and condones the yanking of hundreds of billions of American Taxpayer dollars away from programs benefitting the vast majority of Americans, including the ones who are poor, sick, infirm, and helpless... And instead are giving the same monies to the rich, super rich, their Corporate Pimps and ultimately themselves.. As well as legally shielding themselves. TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!
The Neo Con Parasites have foisted an up to 53-54 trillion American Taxpayer dollars in deficits that we'll have to pay off to the likes of China and Saudi Arabia, while the Neo Con Parasites skulk to their offshore accounts to count their stolen loot.
Treason is Treason, and these Neo Con Republicans have injured the United States and its United States Constitution immensely. They deserve nothing more than to be hauled before America and made to answer for their Nefarious and Treasonous activities.
