Amanda Bohman grew up in northern Illinois about 10 miles from a Six Flags amusement park, where she whiled away many summers. In 1990, she graduated from Round Lake High School after learning rudimentary Spanish, landing a bit part in the play "Twelve Angry Men," and writing for the school newspaper, "The Blaize." Amanda moved to Fairbanks in 1996 and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She enjoys road trips, bargain hunting and bluegrass music. Amanda has been a staff writer at the News-Miner since 1999 and previously wrote for the Kodiak Daily Mirror. Amanda lives with her partner, Alec Turner; their daughter, Jade; four dogs and eight chickens.
