Brookelyn Bellinger lives in Big Delta and writes a bi-monthly column for the News-Miner about what’s happening in Delta Junction. Brookelyn previously wrote a quirky humor column for the News-Miner called “View From the Cabin." She is also the author of "The Frozen Toe Guide to Real Alaskan Livin’; Learn how to survive moose attacks, endless winters, and life without indoor plumbing."
She has a bachelor’s degree in outdoor/adventure recreation management. She sells fresh-squeezed “Arctic Lemonade” at the Farmer’s Market in Fairbanks. She is a singer/songwriter. She has used an outhouse at 50 below.
After eight years of living without running water, Brookelyn hopes this is the year she will get a shower. Maybe even a dishwasher. And a pool.
She’d like to acquire a reindeer and leash train it for pulling a sled so she can enter the reindeer races at the Fur Rendezvous in Anchorage.
Her next projects include a documentary film and another book. And growing a GIANT cabbage. Stop by and say hello at the Farmer’s Market, or visit www.brookelynbellinger.com for more information.
