What does Mr. O'Donoghue and the DNM hope to gain by dredging up all the pain and controvery of the Hartman case...again?? This isn't good journalism, it's bad judgement. One more reason why I haven't subscribed to the DNM in years.

Baby butterfly...are you in the window business? You seem to have an amazing talent to be able to detect the age of a window without even seeing it.
What year did you graduate from the School of Ignorance? I'll bet you earned your bachelor's degree in the Fine Art of Assumption.

I remember a time when our Viet Nam boys came back from the war. They certainly didn't recieve a hero's welcome, unlike today's military who demands our gratitude. I'm glad we have a military and I appreciate the sacrifices they make, but I also acknowledge the fact that many non-military people make sacrifices for our freedom that are just as great. Instead of drawing lines, I think it would be more beneficial if we all took the time to listen to one another.
Now about those sonic booms....I don't care WHO is making them, all I am saying is that they are creating damages to property and livestock, not just my own but to my neighbors also. Get off the 'your bashing the military' kick and come back down to earth. I guarentee if someone drove by your property, threw a rock at your house and broke a few windows, you wouldn't sit back on your thumbs and say, "Oh well..." Someone mentioned earlier that their daughter was thrown from her horse when one of those booms spooked it. It's a good thing she wasn't seriously injured, but if she was, should that child's parents breathe a heavy sigh and say, 'Oh well, that's the price of freedom."?
Granted, the military needs to train, but all I'm asking is that they don't do it right above a community. With today's economy, every penny counts and repairs are costly. For some folks, replacing a damaged window caused by a sonic boom can mean the difference between replacing it or paying a fuel oil bill. Courtesy and respect goes both ways.

baby_butterfly46 - >> But I also don't place things of value so close to an edge to where it would fall off. I also don't go cheap on windows either!! And to those who will respond with my window comment...... you've got the internet right?? Am I sounding too mean to say, "disconnect the internet and use the extra cash for home improvements >>
Do you realize what an ignorant comment that is? You are assuming that people are putting items of value too close to a window. How would you know that tidbit of information? Are you psychic? Are you such an informed person that you know exactly what kind of windows we have on our homes? How do you know that we have internet even? Do you have personal insight into that also? Or have you forgotten that internet service can be found at the public library? Or at the home of a friend? Out of all the comments made here, yours recieves the booby prize for being totally lame. Ride off into the sunset on your pink elephant Princess, or grow up a little before you decide to post another ridiculous and judgemental statement like this one.

There seems to be a new attitude developing that suggests that, when the general public disapproves of something the military does, it's anti-patriotism. How totally ridiculous!! What a narrow-minded way to view life.......

McGehee, there is a huge difference between tolerance of noise, and paying for damages done as a result of that noise.

I live out here in Two Rivers and those sonic booms are extremely loud. They rattle the windows on our house and terrify our livestock. When one of our windows cracks, who pays for the damage? It's not fair that we should have to, especially when you take into account the fact that Alaska has remote areas more suited to that kind of training.
My disgust has nothing to do with my support of the military and it's ridiculous to suggest that my concern over property damage means I'm anti-military. I'm quite certain that if Mr. Moore had to shell out money out of his own pocket to pay for damages done to his home, he would be singing a different tune. Live in our neck of the woods sir, and experience first hand the effects of those sonic booms. I don't care who is responsible for the cause, military or non-military. I'd just like to see a little more respect shown to the folks who live down below when those jets fly over.

You have the pot really boiling now Newsminer. You've accomplished everything that you've set out to do, whites against natives, natives against whites. Bet you're sitting at your desks, smiling to yourselves aren't you? Way to go!
I've lived here 53 years and there was a time when the Daily Newsminer had integrity. Sadly enough, the Goodship Newsminer has sunk to an all-time low. You've exhausted your supply of good journalists and now your only option is to ignite the flames under an event that happened years ago. How sad for you, and how unfortunate for those of us who enjoy reading good journalism.
On Sad, but true
