What I always enjoy is the Subaru group….Yes I agree slowing down is the correct thing to do when conditions warrant. On the other hand driving a safe vehicle to start with is the foundation. Is it really sooo difficult to sweep the snow off your car? How about chip the ice off the whole windshield instead of just a hole in front of the driver. That 200 pound husky standing in the passenger seat does great things for your visibility. It might be time to replace those subi racing slicks for tiers with tread on them. A bare bulb with red tape on it is not a acceptable alternative to a tail light. Mind you that these infractions were all on the same goldstream special. Before you launch think about am I driving slow because its icy or if your just unsafe to start with.

Just a note about cost. City residents pay less than one mil for fire and ambulance. Congrats NSVFD and to our military cooperators for making your area safer and having it recognized by ISO.

I know what I would do….You have the right idea about the royalty oil it would cut our energy costs significantly. We should also tie into the geothermal grid at chena hot springs our tax dollars paid for that as well. Our nation wide economy is in a rough way right now but Alaska is not the rest of the nation. Fairbanks is the farthest north transportation hub. Any development up north flows through our burg. We need to develop a tax structure that will take advantage of that and ease the burden on the property owners. We need a rail line south and a gas line which ever way it goes. We also need to look at economic development beyond oil resources and into our mineral assets. So many things are on the horizon for Fairbanks we need forward thinking leaders willing to make them happen. Fairbanks had had its head stuck in the sand for to long. Do you really want the same worn out mentality that brought on our current fiscal crisis in charge again?

I'm a strict vegetarian….but I like processed vegetables kind like processed cheese. I like them processed in the wholly organic way, into meat. It’s what’s for dinner! Oh and I eat almost all moose meat so ppbbbbpptt! I'm greener than you are. With the transportation costs and the exploitation of the migrant worker, vegetarians are not only politically incorrect but earth haters. Love your Mother, have a moose burger.

Unfortunately FCVB looks at the bed tax money as their own private piggy bank. Woe is the group or person who expects the bed tax to foot the bill for the services tourists use. This was discussing the Boroughs bed tax not the City of Fairbanks. To say that they already pay property taxes and that covers it is ignorant.

I'm not a proponent of larger government but the reality is this burg has grown. The budget has grown far less than the borough has. Do you people even read your tax bills and look at the mill rates your paying? Look before you blog out your butt.
I want a tax cap, but neither of these props are tax caps one is a revenue cap and the other is a growth cap. Neither of these props encourage the borough to find other revenue streams. Its still all on the property owners until you have a property tax cap. Your taxes will not go down until we have a diversified tax base which will never happen with the 70’s mentality, ITA, live in the past groups that set us up with these props. Get informed and vote No on both of these boondoggles of backward thinking.

I think FreeDarfur is thinking of some other union, maybe the Soviet Union. The dues I pay in a year might cover a plane ticket. The only people that I know are going are paying out of their own pockets. Then again I guess you could say that the taxpayers are paying our wages so yes the taxpayer is paying for it.

If only there was a way for people to recognize emergency vehicles and slow down. Maybe paint them red and put lights on them. You really cant cite people for leaving their brain at home.
