P. Kerber: I'm not surprised you saw racism at Denny's directed toward Natives back in the nineties. You may recall that Denny's was successfully sued during that decade for systematic discrimination against African Americans. The company has apparently amended its ways however:

Racism is an ugly reality, and it continues to haunt our society. Slowly we take steps forward and away from it, but the old attitudes are hard to overcome.

If the person who stole Mrs. Evans' flag pole would kindly return it, I will personally give him or her a brand new pole to take its place. I'll even plant the pole for that person...right where the sun don't shine.

God did no define marriage. Man defined God (in his own image, I might add), and then had that God define things the way man saw fit. The Bible is no more a work to take literally than the Ramayana, the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Communist Manifesto, Harry Potter, Fear of Flying, Martha Stewart Living, or Mad Magazine (actually, Mad Magazine is worth listening to; in my experience it gets closer to the truth than just about anything ever written).
The Bible is a work of literature, as well as a marginally reliable work of history. It was written by men. Every word it places in God's mouth was placed there by men.
Homosexuality is as old as humanity. You can't pray it away. Partly because for some people it's their natural inclination, but mostly because there is no God to answer that or any other prayer.

Actually, Hybrid, the largest bloc of voters in Alaska based on registration have listed themselves either "nonpartisan" or "undeclared." They do tend to vote Republican more than Democrat, but they don't consider themselves Republicans.
Independent voters are a growing force across the nation, and the more the better, I say. Both parties are brimming with corruption, dishonesty, and partisan hatred. Any voter who thinks one party is somehow less guilty of this than the other is a blathering fool.

To quote woodman: "Come on, the Democrats now are pouting the fact that experts say it is a gene that makes men have affairs. I guess it is primary (sic) Democratic political men who think affairs are beyond their control. Kennedy (all of them), Edwards and Clinton. Maybe these men just need to learn to keep it in their jeans."
The same goes for Republican men, who seem to have just as many affairs, although their taste lately has run toward other men. Apart from that, I guess it's the same thing: a genetic predisposition.

Brooklyn describes himself as "a New York sushi-eating liberal, although I don't eat sushi very often."
Well, Brooklyn, for your information, we can get sushi right here in Fairbanks at Fred Meyer. I'll bet you don't even have Fred Meyer in New York. That's why Fairbanks is so cool.

lagirl: It was a joke. I know what MILF stands for. Just mocking our friend Allan, as well as the "Obama's a Muslim" whack-jobs. I make fun of everyone. Including myself.

Allan_Riston: I googled MILF. I came up with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, a Muslim separatist rebel group located in the Southern Philippines. Wow, that puts S. Louise Palin in the same school (or should I say madrassa) as B. Hussein Obama. Now I'm really scared.
twingirl: You must be a young'un, as your knowledge of history is lacking. S. Louise Palin is not the first female VP nominee. The first was Geraldine Ferraro (or should I say, G. Anne Ferraro) in 1984. She didn't help Fritz Mondale much.

This comes from the entry on Sarah Palin posted on the Uncyclopedia (that's Wikipedia for the thinking set):
"To date, Governor Palin is the sexiest candidate running for vice president. Despite her being over 40 years old, she is a much more satisfying candidate than Joe Biden. She is known to also be a fan of Craig Ferguson [[1]], and has thus gotten the nickname "naughty librarian" for her young looks and glasses. She is going to be a popular candidate not only for her looks, but for her support of the NRA and tons of other things that men like."
