Oh I dunno- that right turn lane on U. and College northbound is where I tend to see people not pay attention to the light for that lane, and come close to a t-bone as I'm crossing from Alumni to College eastbound. Goes back to people thinking they're privileged to do the 'hurry-up' in spite of correctly moving traffic.
I also agree on folks who try to pressure you thru the turns. What they're forgetting is that YOU are the one who's ultimately responsible for yielding as the situation demands. Several years ago, someone try to be nice and wave my Mom thru a turn, and she got t-boned for her trouble, AND she was the one at fault for failure to yield. Sucked. I had bought that car for her only a few months beforehand.

The westbound Johansen at University could probably use one of those 'prepare to stop' signs. Put it just east of the slough where the road drops back down to 2 lanes.
BTW, I'd like to thank DOT for putting more of those signs out on the Mitchell Expy; it seems to have made a difference in the accidents and near-misses so far this winter. I sure appreciate them!

She still has to deal with the 'Thousands Standing Around' regardless of who she flies with.
I'm surprised the author waited so long to feel this way.

C'mon folks; geezus.
Isanova, with a commute like that, you see a lot of folks driving smaller cars, or they're making the town trip for their own supplies. Spare room is a premium at best. For example, I can manage to get 12 holiday boxes into my own 4Runner at a time, and that's not nearly enough for the need just in the Salcha area. Besides, this is a year-round activity, so you need to be able to find someone who can transport food without it freezing.
Our Senior Center is an outlet for USDA commodities; it seems there are only 1 or 2 people that roll up their sleeves for this, and it does take some time.
It's hard to find a consistent cadre of people who have a vehicle that can haul an adequate amount of food and NOT have it freeze during transport, so picking up a van for this purpose isn't out of line. I just hope for their sake that it's not a hunka junk.

My sister is a casualty of suicide.
Learn the signs/symptoms of suicide. Learn what, if anything, is offered in the school your kids attend. Talk to your kids. Go here:

I was just talking over dinner with a friend about the new youth facility down off Lathrop/Mitchell Expy. There are about 300 youth who are Outside receiving treatment for a variety of mental health issues. They are wanting to bring them back home. The problem here, as most anywhere, is there is a profound lack of qualified pyschiatric doctors/nurses/staff, and they are currently trying to recruit people to man this facility.
This is a huge social problem that will take a long time to overcome, given current resources. Get yourself informed Kari; it might help someone; you never know.

I didn't see any statement that even implies the homeowner cocked his firearm. And from the non-thumper, I do believe one of the Top Ten is "THOU SHALT NOT STEAL", duh!
Considering how LE's here drag their feet about property theft and vandalism investigations, the homeowner was being proactive in defending home and hearth. He was also demonstrating some restraint in not discharging his firearm and calling the cops on these two turdbirds. Also with the home thefts that have had firearms disappear, Jeff was prudent in making sure he was armed in case he DID have to defend himself. Dirk got it.
Good on ya Jeff. Just don't be doing any YouTube while the 18 y/o is goes thru the justice system; don't give 'em any wiggle room.
RE: Trespassing kid shot off snow-go several years ago was out in Salcha off Johnson Road. Didn't kill him. Homeowner went to jail and lost his place.
As a friend of mine sagely put it one day, "We deserve whatever it is we're willing to put up with."
Not only applies to politics, but to criminals as well.

Milosovec was also able to exploit a largely unarmed population.
We also have a larger drug/crime problem in our society, so you could be talking apples and oranges with your last blanket statement, FWIW.

If you are going somewhat under the posted speed limit, and pass under the 'prepare to stop' sign as it starts to flash, that's your green-to-yellow indication, LOL!
They don't seem to work quite as well here, but in Spokane where my Dad lives, the 'do not walk' signs gave you a clue as to the light change. Flashes 7 times. I've watched them up here, not as consistent.
