QUICK!!! GET OUT YOUR MARKERS BEFORE IT GOES DOWN!!! LOL! 1967 must have skipped over that. I'd be interested in the comparison.

Looks like Fairbanks is doing it's flood cycle thing again. Be nice if it was just a little more predictable. Last bad flood was what 1969 or was that 1967? Downtown used to be riddled with FLOOD level marks are they still there? I wonder how this flood rates with that one.
GOD BLESS YOU FAIRBANKS. GODSPEED IN ALL BLESSINGS.

Not April 30th. Alaska is demanding that we UNDERSTAND, that that is who she is.
Alaska as Northern lights extreme cold, snow, more snow and ICE and lots of it baby, Mountains more mountains, Tundra tundra and more tundra, and more ICE.
Wild animals are wild animals, so don't expect them to respect YOUR space HA!
Global warming is for woosies! You're in Alaska, she'll be just as warm or cold as she wants to be, and that's how you'll love her or LEAVE...End of Story.
With all the newbies hanging around, it's gonna snow in July you watch!
We'll Be Lucky if it goes out May 30th.

I know one thing. DNM needs to put an "edit" option in their comments section. So people can go back and correct their typos, add more information and/or delete what they wrote if they learn of their mistakes.
ADN has it and it's nice.

I'd be worried about that first entry. I sure hope they find the sicko that did that.

People have been stickin' around waiting on that gasline for 30 yrs. Many have had to "carve their own niche". Alaska still has most of the work force that came up here for the pipeline, and their children and their children.

Shadowmatrix....THAT's Fairbanks, doesn't sound like there's much turnover there! You're in administration? May I suggest you inquire at the University of Alaska, DNR, Alaska RR, and the Oil companies? $15-$18 an hr. is about right for STARTING wages.. There's usually a 6 mo. trial. Making $15 an hr. You may have to accept a roommate situation if you're single. Many do. Most get significant others. If you've a spouse you'll probably do okay, but you'll both have to work. However if you have a degree, there is no reason for you to accept much less than $25.hr. BUT ALAS, those positions are probably already filled. May I ask why you are coming here if not for a specified job offer? Most have job ops before they start packing. The Gas line probably isn't going to be the boon that the Trans-Alaska Pipeline was. It's going to be good for the economy, but it's not going to be anywhere near the level of what occurred in the '70s.

AKJAC Don't disagree w/you on your opinion of that lil Whitehouse Squattin' Weasle, but I have to tell you YOU'RE MISTAKEN HERE.
Developing ANWR would be the best thing to ever happen to that SWAMP!...Provided we stay in there and siphon off the GAS when it's avail IMMEDIATELY, not 30+ years down the line.
LOVE YA FAIRBANKS. I see the California Dreamin'Pelosi Pushin'Pink Puckers haven't infiltrated you like they have Anchorage. JEEZ, it's like wall to wall environmentalists down here trying to control the vote on our important issues. May they freeze in the dark and get eaten by the bears! (no, I don't REALLY mean that, just thinkin') PRAY FOR ANCHORAGE....PRAY FOR REAL WINTER, THAT WILL SEND THEM PACKIN'......... WINTER THAT STOPS CARS DEAD IN THE STREET WINTER....CALL WINTER FAIRBANKS!
