The state of Alaska should cut the 8 cent PG tax. We are banking Billions and Taxing our selves.......every bit helps in cash stapped villages paying 5-8 dollars per Gallon.
Don has been detatched from the plight of Alaskan life due to extended absence from reality. Two terms with a manditory term break back to the state of representation, for understanding Sate issues. Then eligibility for office again. This will remain a cronic issue in Congress otherwise.

Building a railroad out into the Tanana flats has many problems. Two of which are: a) wet swampy ground is hard to build on and is VERY expensive. b) WE all know that trains are real hard on wintering moose populations. Building a railroad through winter moose habitat should be avoided. Following the Richardson high route to the East of Fairbanks is better in the long run. The Army could use an amphibian method to access the Tannana Flats and cross the river.....Hovercraft...even helicopter is much cheaper.....but less grandiose.
The meat value to Alaskans of the moose harvested in the Tanana is worth several million dollars annualy, and is renewable. Wise planing to reduce impacts to other values needs to be considered with these kinds of projects.

The State of Alaska rarely funds any of ADF&Gs 30 plus million dollar budget. Only a few hundred thousand dollars for wolf controll efforts. ADF&G is primarily reliant on non-resident licence sales, and Federal excise taxes, Pitman/Roberts funds. PR funds are distributed in formula to how many State licence dollars are sold. The more licences sold the more Federal dollars are distributed at a ratio of 3 PR dollars for every state licence dollar.Because non-residents pay high licence fees the Board of Game allocates harvest as much as possible to them. This is ususally NOT benificial to the resident of Alaska trying to fill his freezer.
ADF&G can no longer be reliant on Federal funding, nor can the game recources continue to suport esculating non-resident participation. The legeslature needs to do THEIR constitutional duty to sustained yeild, and fund wildlife management.
Waisting 2,000,000 on some public relation firm to "educate" the public on Polar Bears is funding squanded. ADF&G could well use those funds for surveys and other management necessities to benifit Alaskan residents. General fund dollars benifit the Alaskan resources and Alaskans, not outside public relations firms or non-resident hunters.

I have used the solid copper Barns-X billet for 12 years and have found them far supperior to lead core bullets. There is 33% more penitration with only 1/3 of the meat damage normaly, and 100% weight retention......Lead core bullets ARE obsolite.....AND toxic too.
