"It is funny to me that the left leaning seem to be able to post during normal working hours. While the more conservative are on after. Those Government jobs must not really be needed? Or is it the University folks? Maybe just those collecting welfare on our dime?"

Wow that's funny that is just what I have always thought about the people who call radio talk shows every day. both locally and notionally. "Don't conservatives have jobs?"

“I am not sure I would not have shot them and said I saw them go for THEIR GUNS and I was in fear of my life!!”
Yukonjohn If this is really how you feel then as far as I’m concerned you’re a hell of a lot more scary, and a worse problem to the community than any kid trying to steal something out of a truck. I raised two kids myself and there is a point where you can do your best as a parent and still have kids that make bad decisions for a time. My kids both shoplifted thankfully both got caught and dealt with appropriately.
I guess by your logic anyone who steals should be executed, or a little less severe several comments above where a guy says they should have a finger cut off. There are countries that will give you your kind of justice but I’m pretty happy that I live in a place where that sort of thing would be considered barbaric.
As for beating your kids, I was beat like a drum when I was coming up and all I thought once I got the beating was “The slate’s clean, I can do as I please again.” There are other kids that get much different thoughts from beatings like “This must be how you deal with difficult situations you beat the hell out of someone.” These people can grow up to be pretty scary adults too. Maybe the kind of adults that would lie to the authorities so they could shoot a kid who was stealing.

On Kelly-Kassel race still undecided

"Of course, if the remaining question ballots follow the trend of the recently counted early votes and absentee votes, then Kassel will squeak ahead."

Sorry stormrider didn't see this part of your post.
This is one hell of an election.

On Kassel one vote behind Kelly in District 7

"So Kelly probably wins District 7. There are 96 uncounted question ballots left, and that's all the votes for District 7. Looking at the question ballots that have already been counted, Kelly won them 109 - 57."

Stormrider that may be true but there are also 680 absentee votes out and they have been breaking slightly in favor of Kassel. Unless I'm missing something it's still a horse race.

How close to the political edge does a church have to tread before they lose their tax exempt status?

It's weird if you try to search for the issues Ted is using to appeal his conviction I at least can't find them. Ted talks in generalities about evidence but not in specifics. That tells me the issues probably aren't that strong. I mean if I had evidence that would clear my name I would want everyone to know specifically what that evidence was. Ted seems to be appealing more on how the trial was conducted than what evidence was left out.

Jim Hayes and his wife are in prison right now and most likely every person here that posted in support of Ted called for Jim's head. Strange how that little "D" or "R" at the end makes such a difference when it comes to guilt.

Obama gave a great speech last night don’t get me wrong I appreciated it but if I were him I think I would have jumped out from behind the partition wall wearing a turban and screened “HA!!! “. That way everyone would have thought "That Obama is a real crack up." I mean some conservatives in the heart land would have been rushed to the hospital with heart attacks but still most people would have gotten the joke I think.
