Rep. Jay Ramras of Fairbanks, who took credit this week for breathing life into the pair of gas line resolutions that so irked Gov. Palin, is following up with a personal plea to the governor.
Here's the news release that just came out.
(Juneau) - Representative Jay Ramras, R-Fairbanks, today sent a letter to Governor Sarah Palin asking her administration to consider expanding the call of the June 3 special session on AGIA issues to include a small diameter gas pipeline for in-state use and seriously analyze the economics and scope of its delivery.
Rep. Ramras outlined four specific areas for the administration to consider: expanding the call; putting some of the consultants working for the State on AGIA to work at analyzing an in-state pipe; contacting former Dept. of Natural Resources Commissioner Harry Noah, who has studied a small-diameter pipeline, for his input and/or findings; and to reanalyze the cost, which he said may range from $5-10 million for analysis, of adding an in-state gas pipeline to the consultations.
“On behalf of the constituents I represent, we are desperate, Governor, and need your help immediately,” Rep. Ramras stated in his letter. “Enstar gas (in the Anchorage bowl) is presently $8.70p/Mcf and Fairbanks Natural Gas is $22.91p/Mcf. My community cannot survive on a spread like this when it takes twice the BTUs to heat an average Fairbanks vs. Southcentral home anyway.”
