APOC posts governor's latest financial statements

Published Thursday, September 4, 2008

The Alaska Public Offices Commission has placed Gov. Sarah Palin’s latest financial disclosure statement on line.

Every major news organization in the country is probably asking for this.

The statement was filed March 14 and covers 2007.

She lists her income of $125,000 a year as governor, while her husband Todd earned $46,790 working part-time for BP at Prudhoe Bay. He also grossed $46,269 from his fishing business, Todd’s Fisheries, which involved a set net operation in Bristol Bay.

Her only debt over $1,000 is a home loan with Wells Fargo and while she has a VISA card, there was no outstanding debt at the end of 2007.

Under the required “disclosure of economic association,” the governor wrote: “Last spring my sixth-grade daughter periodically shared rides to/from basketball league practices with teammates, including daughter” of a Juneau lobbyist.

She said this was for information purposes only, as there was no economic gain in carpooling.

Under gifts, she reported getting items ranging from a $700 ivory carved raven from Bering Straits Native Corp. to a trip to a California meeting valued at $2,956 that was funded by the Republican Governors’ Association.
