Blog: Election 2008
Don Gray wants you to vote for John Edwards tomorrow.
Alaska is facing huge problems with the shortage of doctors, the number of families without health care coverage, and changing pension options, he says. And if Democratic candidates have taken on the issue of health care this campaign, it’s largely because John Edwards made it an issue.
Gray is a vice chair within the Alaska Democratic Party (from Fairbanks), so he knows well that John Edwards is no longer in the race.
That’s part of the hook -- the state isn’t in the pocket of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. Gray hopes that staying undecided after Super Tuesday will win the state a visit from one of them. On top of that, when Alaska shows up at the national convention in August with delegates all backing Edwards, people will listen, and Alaska will have a platform to raise the issues that really matter to the state.
Voila!
That’s the idea anyway.
