Blog: Election 2008
Lots of people seem to be confused today, judging by some phone calls to the News-Miner. "I just went to my polling place, and they said there's no election today, but you said there is."
We don’t think we did say that. To be clear, there is no election; there is, however, a Democratic caucus and a Republican presidential preference vote. Neither of those events is run by the state Division of Elections, though. The events are run by the respective parties.
And since the events aren’t run by Division of Elections, that means the regular polling places aren’t in use. The parties can choose their own locations and set their own times and rules.
Got it?
