Foreign policy experience, kind of

The last couple times I've been outside and mentioned that I was from Alaska, I've gotten shocked responses about the place actually being a state, followed by the usual silly questions about igloos and the lack of women.
Not so this time.

Admittedly, there are worse places to be stranded than Honolulu.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Bosslift group from Fairbanks was expected to return to Alaska Friday night, but the aforementioned problems with lightbulbs and/or gremlins have kept us here an extra day.

The end of the beginning

Training has wrapped up at NTC, I've written my last story from from the high desert, and now I'm here at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas waiting for the first of two flights that will eventually take me back to Fairbanks.
