Ghostly tales from Fairbanks
In October 2004, News-Miner staff writer Mary Beth Smetzer wrote about "Mabel" a ghostly presence in the basement of the Co-op Plaza in downtown Fairbanks. In honor of Halloween, I am reprinting the story. Happy hauntings!

One of the fun things about social networking is that there are groups you can join that are tailored to very specific tastes. On Facebook, there's a group called "You Know You're from Fairbanks When ..." It has more than 1,000 members. Here are some of their observations:
