New Grizzlies

Published Thursday, March 27, 2008

With military and other commitments keeping some players from traveling, the Grizzlies added four players to their roster for Saturday's game in Texas against the Frisco Thunder.

The Grizzlies have signed DE Terrell Paul, WR/QB/K Nick Tomlinson, OL/DL Joshua Sooter and LB/FB Felix Wilson.

To help make room on their 20-man roster, the Grizz moved WR Adrian Perez -- who has yet to see playing time with a hamstring pull -- to the short injured reserves, along with lineman Jay Fulk.

Wilson was at the team's tryout and one of the players the Grizzlies have kept on standby.

The 6-foot-1, 220 pound Tomlinson has three years experience, graduated from Colorado State University and was invited to training camp with the Cleveland Browns last spring. In college, Tomlinson was a finalist for the Ray Guy award, given to the nation's top collegiate punter. Tomlinson was a backup quarterback at CSU and has played wide receiver in the arena game.

"He’s going to kick this weekend for us as well as play some receiver,” Fourcade said.

Sooter played his college ball at Texas Tech, though he doesn't seem to have seen the field much. He's 6-4 and 280 pounds.

Paul was an All-Conference USA defensive end for Southern Miss.

"He’s a beast," Fourcade said. "He’s a good ball player.”

Fourcade said he's not looking at these players as simply one-shot fixes. The coach plans on bringing them back up to Fairbanks after the game.

"I’m going to bring them back up here to compete with the other guys so we’ll have some able bodies," he said, "so I don’t have to go soul searching after the games.”
